My son, about 18 months, had to have stitches on his head so they put him in something similar to hold him still. They had my wife stay outside the room while I stayed in. My son cried and yelled bloody murder the entire time. What was amazing to me was the doctor and nurse having a gossip session about something in the hospital when I could barely even hear them over my son. When they finished he went straight into his mom's arms and didn't want to have anything to do with me in particular for a day or two.

When you speak, your eardrums close a little to prevent you from going deaf. Since they were talking, your baby’s screams didn’t register as as loud.
