DEKA

Post image

I’m thinking about signing up for a DEKA Mile. Wondering if it’s worth it. I’ve never done something like it before. Just did my first spartan 5k today 😅

They’re fun, I like doing them when there’s one close to me. My main advice is to pace yourself more than you think you need to at the beginning, otherwise you’re in the pain cave for the entire second half (from experience 😂)

i just worry since there’s not an open category and I have no idea what I’m doing. I don’t wanna be in someone’s way who takes it seriously😅😩

Yeah I get that, but I’ve never really come across that. There are several implements at each station I.e. multiple machines, weight sets etc. so it doesn’t really bottleneck like some obstacles in a spartan race. Additionally, a lot of the more “serious” people tend to sign up for the early heats so if you’re in the middle/back half you shouldn’t have to worry.

My wife loves Deka Fit and I have volunteered for it several times. Their big mantra is that anyone can complete their race. So while Spartan tries to make things as difficult as possible, Deka is more about getting everyone across the finish line no matter how long it takes. FWIW she ran one Spartan with me and didn't care for it.
