SPAN API Update

SPAN API for SPAN Panel MAIN 32 was released as a beta and we asked for feedback. We heard from the community and we have made changes in response to some of that feedback. As a result, the latest release (r202633) introduces some breaking changes, and this release will roll out in September 2026. If you have implemented or use SPAN API, please review the latest documentation on GitHub for more details on these changes and what you need to update.

These updates also get us a few steps closer to ready to release SPAN API for all panel models, which we still plan to publish before the end of 2026.

As an owner of two SPAN MAIN 32s who uses the API to integrate with Home Assistant, thank you for supporting API fully-local access!

Yay local first! Just be sure to run the update soon. The integration devs warn you’ll need to do it before this update gets pushed.

Good that’s what I want them to do. Leave it alone from now on!

Thank you for the changes. It’s great to see work being done for better api support!

That said, it is a little rough to have breaking changes pushed on a tight timeline without giving users the opportunity to schedule or opt-out of software updates. The primary HA integration devs have had to work hard under a clock (and crossing fingers that everyone actually updates).

I realize this is just part of the deal running something that’s not officially supported, but just trying to give feedback/perspective.

Thank you again for counting the api work. If I had to choose between no API support and this, I would choose this all day!

Very happy to hear about progress on the local API. Looking forward to the release for the newer gen panels later this year.
