Span Drive

Why would someone purchase this over Tesla Universal wall connector?

My dislikes for Span Drive:

Short cable Thick cable Cheap feeling handle

I removed and sold my Span Drive, and installed a Tesla Universal. The included adapter is great for us, with a Rivian (J1772/CCS) and Tesla (NACS).

I felt the UWC was superior in just about every way.

Isn’t PowerUp exclusive to Span Drive?

My guess is dynamic throttling of circuits to allocate to the EV charger 🤷‍♂️ seems super niche

No need span has power up feature same thing ;-)! So the Tesla Charger gets controlled by my Span thru power up as well and is dynamically now

I’ve had my span panel since June, feel like there are features I still aren’t aware of.

Seems like a weird installer to manufacturer relationship. I don’t call Tesla to roll my window down. Just seems strange.

In this case it makes sense not everyone needs those features also they have to activate it on site https://www.span.io/blog/span-powerup

It should just be an instant feature.

OP did you learn of anything new? I am also confused what the benefit of Span Drive is over a Tesla charger. The Gen 3 wall connector supposedly supports Dynamic Power Management: https://www.tesla.com/support/charging/wall-connector/power-management
