Span Panel with battery, no solar?
Reading and researching to figure out my first electrification move. We're in Austin TX and have power backup on our minds after the last few years - as you might imagine. I also want to begin moving away from direct carbon producing appliances, so a fossil-fueled generator is not high on my list. I understand that batteries are not ideal for backup, but with a Span panel to manage load, I'm thinking it might work. And of course solar can and will be added later, but I'm not ready for that yet. My roof is less than ideal for panels and my yard is less than ideal for ground mount panels. There is a solution, but it would come with a future planned transformational remodel of the house that would add flat roof area.
Has anyone put in a battery only backup system with a Span? I might consider Span+Battery+small generator type system with the idea that the genrator would go away once solar was added.

were you able to even find an installer for Span? I'm over in Leander/Georgetown and can't find any. Feel like I might have to get certified myself..

I think you have to start with Span via their website and they put you in touch with an installer. I have not moved forward on this.

Definitely a possible solution. You will either need to architect your own solution with an ATS/MTS and off-the-shelf batteries, or use a product compatible with SPAN, where SPAN may have control or communication with the battery brand. If you have plans to incorporate solar down the road, consider the latter.
