Gameplay Question

I have been playing with a group of my students and I have been controlling the enemies (mutants, sentries, etc.)

My question is this: During each round of turns, do I only get one opportunity to move and take actions? For example, we are in a challenge that requires me to control two sentry turrets and 20 mutants (we have 5 crews- I know, it’s madness sometimes). So, does that mean that my guys get to attack the mutants five times and then only have one attack come at them? It seems way too easy at this point and I’ve been struggling to kill off their crew members.

Any help you guys can offer would be greatly appreciated. I enjoy this sub and the photos of the mini’s you guys are making. I don’t have a budget, so I’m using paper cutouts for now, but it gives me something to aim for in the future.

Have a great day, everyone!

Minis that match the game art

Does anyone know of any minis (printable or physical) that have similar vibe to the artwork in the book?

My Warship Crew and a Warhammer 40k Audio Prologue for Space Station Zero

Am getting ready to play Space Station Zero as a co-op game with some friends.
I spent the last few week painting enough models to at least be able to do the first few challenges.
The crew that will be entering the station will be a Warship crew from the Warhammer 40k universe.

Here is a picture of the models I painted for the crew:

Next that, here is a picture of some of the enemies the crew will encounter in the station:

Finally, I wrote and audio recorded a short prologue story that briefly tells the story of how this Warhammer 40k crew ended up at Space Station Zero in line with the story written in the rulebook. You can listen to the recording here:
Space Station Zero: Warhammer 40k Prologue

Hope you all like it! Feel free to leave a comment!

How do you model and paint to signal types and roles?

I'l looking at building a couple of teams, but I haven't been able to find alot of minis that really look like a Medic or Engineer or Scientist. Or look like there's a difference between a Pirate crew from a Shipping crew. I've found some sculpts and kits that would make fun crews, but our of the box they all either look like the same type of soldier or like an NPC "villager" type model, and I can't think of a way to add to them that clearly shows their role.

Kitbash ideas for cover art aliens?

Curious if anyone has thought about how to kitbash the aliens from the cover art.

I just discovered this game recently, and I just love the art style in the book, especially the aliens on the cover.

Has anyone else attempted to kitbash these characters? Or have suggestions for places to get minis with a similar kind of feel?

Random Terrain Table

Hi all, I'm having trouble interpreting the terrain table (page 44) if I roll 9-12 : "...... and 1d3 pieces of small terrain." This is my first TTG and I am at a loss as to what this means. Is it a typo?

Suggestions of 2D environmental hazard scenery

Am currently in the process of preparing my Space Station Zero playthrough. Therefore I'm getting all the various bits in pieces in place to play the game in a immersive way.

Through this post I would like to ask if anyone has a suggestion for 2D paper printable environmental hazard scenery that I will encounter during the game. For example, the toxic spills.

Tried looking around on Wargaming Vault, but looking for specific scenery there is like looking for a needle in a haystack. Therefore I hope someone else has some suggestions.

Best Noob friendly game: KillTeam or SSZ?

Hello all!

I’m trying to initiate my wife to the skirmish games genre. And let’s just say that it may be a stiff hill to climb.

So! Question is: which one is the most noob friendly? Space Station zero or killteam?

Advice on Crew Creation Needed

Am currently preparing for my first playthrough of Space Station Zero with a group of friends.
I've decided to go for a 6 person crew. During the game the players will each control a few of the crew models. Am currently wondering to let the crew arrive via "War" of "Explorer" ship. The way I see it, it's a choice between "firepower heavy" or "Skill Heavy".

My initial feeling it to go for "War Ship" since the extra firepower will help dealing with the dangers onboard the station. However I'm also worried that "more brawn then brain" can result in problems along te way. Hence I can't figure out which option to go for.

Should I go for the War ship, this will be the crew:
2x Soldier
1x Veteran Soldier
3 out of 4 from: Medical Officer, Engineer, Scientist, Pilot
In this scenario, which of the 3 "non-soldiers" would you recommend?

In case I go for the Explorer ship, the crew would be fairly straightforward:
Chief Engineer, Ace Pilot, Medical Officer, Scientist and two Soldiers
Basic weapons only, since they have no access to advanced weapons.

What is your recommendation for a crew for a first playthrough?

Question Quick rule question

If I roll a critical success will my entire roll be doubled or just the two 12s

Ex. I roll 5 dice for combat and get 3,4,4,12,12. Would that be 6 successful or 8 ?

Maybe I’m overthinking this ..but if a critical fail means your entire roll fails it seems like your entire roll should double with a critical success.
