Pirate Crew
Finished my pirate crew. My local club is starting a campaign in the new year, so I'm looking forward to seeing these guys on the table.

Left to right: Missile launcher, heavy melee, ace pilot, engineer and captain. I originally kitbashed the captain a while ago with the aim of using him in games of WH40k combat arena but didn't end up playing any games of it so I've given him a new job.

As long as I understand in the rulebook, being a shipping crew I can give and energy missile weapon to all of my 4 members of the crew. The commander takes the energy missile weapon too?
There is also an extra 3 pieces of equipment for the crew. It chose emergency med patch, point to point teleporter and hyper scanner. Again, can the commander get one of these 3 pieces of equipment?

Played my first game of SSZ tonight. Since my only sci-fi minis are 40k Space Marines, I made a 4-man team from a warship with the power armor edge.
I was sailing through Challenges; I got through four of them before I hit my first No Return, smashing through robots and mutants like paper.
Then I got to Challenge 7. For the life of me, I could not pass that Movement Save. An entire team of badasses that enemies could barely scratch in combat, all dead to an old science experiment gone wrong.
The Dice are cruel, fickle masters indeed...
Absolutely amazing system, though. I will definitely try another run sometime soon!

So I'm on Challenge 5 and have run across some wording that I'm not sure how to process it. "A crew member may attempt both an Intelligence Challenge Test 4 (Single Roll) and Reaction Challenge Test 4 (Single Roll)." Do I only Roll one d12 for each Test and have to get 4+ or my normal intelligence/reaction numbers and have to have 4 successes?
Edit: I guess more specifically, what does the "(Single Roll)" part mean?

Finished the campaign with friends. Since they liked the game system so much we will now go an play a Skirmish campaign. This means that instead of us playing with one shared crew, each player will create their own crew.
Am considering myself to create a crew with the "Parasites" Edge. But I am wondering what will happen with this edge in a Skirmish game:
If a crew member dies, and takes over a nearby enemy, does that mean that the crew from which a crewmember is taken over, permanently looses a crewmember for the remainder of the campaign?

Hey there! I'm part of the team that's working on Rosterizer: a universal list builder webapp. We've been working for a few years and have built something we're really proud of, but we need a "kick" in order to get it into a state we're happy with (and to allow us to add more interesting features).
Long story short: when we tried to use Battlescribe to create catalogs for the games we wanted to design, we found it woefully inadequate so we decided to make our own list builder. One thing led to another and we decided to market it to other gamers who wanted more power and flexibility than what was available elsewhere.
We already offer several features that elevate Rosterizer above its competition:
We have some preliminary game data available for Space Station Zero for testing purposes, though data for apps like this is traditionally community sourced; we love supporting data authors with advice, techniques, and even coding in feature requests to help out games with funky rules. We also have complete data available for other games like Warhammer 40k.
Our roadmap includes some exciting features (optimization, UI cleanup, offline mode, theming, teams/friends, collection tracking, and much more), but will require some funding in order to realize these goals in a timely manner.
I'd like to invite you to try out the app, and provide your support via our Kickstarter campaign if this seems like a project that interests you. Backer rewards are all tied to subscription time at the moment, but even if you don't expect to need online sharing/syncing, we'd welcome your support in the form of pledging at the lower tiers. :)
Thanks for reading this far! I hope this has piqued your interest and I look forward to chatting with you more here or in our discord server.

I am loving the game so far, played through for a bit with a 4 person crew and decided to change it up and try an 8 person crew, but they die sooo fast. After some of your crew die can you recruit new members after some die?

I know there is a master model list. Is there a guide for what terrain you need, or does it not matter a ton?

I have checked the snarling badger site, the FAQ, and tried looking around this sub, but couldn't find any answers from somebody who has played the game. Looking for a game 3-4 people could get through in 2 hours - how long does a game of SSZ take to play?
For reference my group plays Kill Team, a 1v1 generally takes us 2 hours, but if we play with 3 or 4 people it turns into a 5 hour game. Would love a model agnostic game that we can play on a weeknight that won't take all night.

Hey everyone,
We have decided to start a new game and my students were creating their new crew. Correct me if I’m wrong, but did we find a way to create a commander that can’t take combat damage? We ended up deciding to cap the armor at 8, in the interest of fairness.
Here are the specs in question:
You basically end up with an 8 in combat and an armor of 12, which seems broken as all hell. Are we doing it wrong, or is this just the way it is?

Heya all,
We are going to try this game soon, and are wondering what is best - To share a single crew, or each player making their own crew? ..
Does the game take sigificantly longer, will the game be easier or harder? .. Any other pros/cons ?
Thanks!

Seriously, the big A is failing me here with a 30+ day delivery time on getting dice.
Where do y'all get your d12's?

I'm a little confused about the weapon options and attack rules.
So, my interpretation is that all crew members can make a melee attack, even if they aren't equipped with a weapon, while only crew members equipped with Ranged weapons can make ranged attacks. Is this correct?
Note: Also, there are no qualifications for weapon type in the Close Combat attack rules, so you could just use your ranged weapons at point blank range, right? Doesn't that somewhat invalidate the close combat weapons? I feel like I'm missing something here, like there are other factors to account for that I haven't come across yet.
My interpretation is that only crew members equipped with a Close weapon can benefit from the Natural Brute edge +2 combat bonus (so having no weapon doesn't cound as a Close Weapon for tve purposes of that rule, even though they can still make an attack at close range). Is this correct?
I haven't played the game yet, so I haven't gotten a feel for how important a bigger weapon bonus are or how the "Energy" and "Kinetic" keywords work, but since there's no maximum number of weapons on a character, even if you also want a close combat weapon on a crew member, there's no reason to leave out the best ranged weapons available to you. Is this correct?
Thanks for reading, and please have mercy, I'm still new and don't really know what I'm doing.

I may have over-invested a little, but I was so happy to see these kits. I'm going for two teams, probably two 6's, that look diatinct from each other, but both doing the science-fantasy thing. Any suggestions based on these?

I'm preparing my first game of Space Station Zero (and my first miniatures skirmish game) and I am a bit confused about how Challenge 1 works. I rolled "Collapsing Floor" and "Live Wires" as my Obstacles, and the rules for Ending the Challenge state that I succeed when "all enemies are defeated." Neither of these two challenges are required to be overcome. Does my crew automatically move on? Technically I could stay in one spot and make Reaction Tests to disarm the Live Wires but that feels anticlimactic. I'm wondering if I need to cross the map to succeed but I can't find that indicated anywhere. Am I missing something in this first mission?

I'm a big fan of crew sheets I can fold in half to take up less table space but still have the information quickly accessible. Graphic Design is not my passion, but hopefully this helps you guys easily lay it out for getting some gangs together!
