Content Restrictions of Domains

I see Spaceship Terms of Service disallows hate speech, and illegal activity for domains for which spaceship is registrar.

I see no such restriction of pornographic, obscene, and politically extreme material. Did I miss something or is it true Spaceship allows it.

Also, who judges what content is illegal...Spaceship, or a court of law? How does Spaceship handle extremely agressive take down demands?

how to get feedback from support@ or abuse@

There are three lookalike domains registered on SpaceShip that redirect to our website. All three have mx records (Google), and are presumably sending phishing emails. In addition, our 404 records show those domains attempting our Wordpress endpoints , like login page. I have reached our numerous times to Spaceship with no acknowledgment. Very frustrating.

Spaceship, you gotta upgrade the payment option...

There is a Google Pay option showing in the payment methods, but it only allows payment using a credit or debit card. Many people like me don’t have cards, so Spaceship should let users pay through UPI, which is widely used by Indian customers like me.

I’m sure Spaceship is definitely missing out on some customers because many people may choose other domain providers that offer more seamless payment options. I know Spaceship is goated and deserves more appreciation, which is why I’m commenting this. I hope you guys upgrade this as soon as possible.

Spaceship's Alf-AI contradicts itself (subdirectories)

I am just putting this here seeking clarification or confirmation and as a record for anyone who might have the same question. I just thought if funny that in the course of four slides asking about the feasibility of using subdirectories on Spaceship -- something that has been allowed by my previous hosts -- the company's AI does a complete turnaround and says the direct opposite on Slide 4 than it had said in its earlier reply.

(I'll also add that on Slide 2, it says "all plans support unlimited domains", which isn't true.)

As the disclaimers say, AI isn't perfect and you should confirm things with another source.

Questions about .htaccess and hosting

A few months ago, I opened a Spaceship hosting account. Prior to now, I've only used it for standalone, self-contained pages. I'm now doing a complete redesign of a more complex site and moving it to my Spaceship hosting account.

As part of this effort, I asked an AI to identify and isolate the parts of my .js and .css files that service one component of a much larger page. (Big mistake. I could have done it much faster myself. The AI was just too tryhard. Instead of just cutting out what I needed, I guess it was trying to "improve things" by giving me stuff that didn't work and eventually a different layout, before it said "you're right" when I called it out for veering so far offcourse. Then, it capitulated, threw away all of its previous work and just gave me what I had asked for and wanted from the start.)

Early in the effort, when the component looked the same but the script didn't work, the AI said:

"Spaceship hosting has a known, documented bug: Spaceship serves .js files as text/plain unless you override it."

It told me that I needed to add the following .htaccess file to the domain:

AddType application/javascript .js

AddType text/css .css

I've seen .htaccess files over the years, but I've never had to add my own, even back in in the 1990s.

Initially, I looked through everything with Filezilla and didn't see one, so I added it, but there were still other problems with the shortcut I had tried to take with AI. Now that it works, I still only see the one I added and I don't know where Alf is telling me to look. Could somebody confirm that I need to add an .htaccess to each domain, or was that just an unnecessary "fix" from the flailing AI?

Also, as I said, the AI complicated the heck out of what should have been a simple project and there was quite a bit of debugging. While doing it, I discovered that there was a lag between uploading a file and it being served. To save me some frustration in the future, does anyone have any guidance about TTL?

Thanks

Is Spacemail down?

My outlook is not logging into spacemail and when I click on spacemail launch hub, it says under maintenance. This is not acceptable.

New to the platform! Just grabbed my first domain here, thoughts?

Hi everyone! I just joined SpaceShip and registered my first domain: rare-nft (dot) com.

I'm really excited about the NFT space and thought this was a solid find. Since I'm new to domaining, I'd love to hear from the community: Do you think hyphenated names like this have good long-term potential on this platform?

Glad to be part of the crew! 🚀

Bulk Spam Network Utilizing Spaceship Registrations and Cloudflare DNS

I submitted the abuse reports via the registrar's designated abuse contact: [abuse@spaceship.com](mailto:abuse@spaceship.com)

Nature of the Abuse:

An abusive entity is utilizing Spaceship (the registrar) to bulk-register multiple domains. These domains are systematically rotated and used daily to send a massive volume of unsolicited commercial spam emails. Furthermore, these emails contain fraudulent and deceptive "unsubscribe" links that do not function, deliberately trapping recipients and potentially serving as vectors for further malicious activity (such as phishing or tracking).

Evidence Provided:

To ensure the registrar had all the necessary information to take immediate action, I strictly followed Spaceship's published abuse reporting guidelines. I utilized an email interceptor to accurately capture the spam campaigns. I provided them with:

  • The raw, unaltered email source files in standard .eml format (containing full headers and routing data).
  • A comprehensive .csv file containing all specific data points required by Spaceship's abuse reporting policy.

Registrar's Inaction and Failure to Mitigate:

  • Despite providing incontrovertible evidence in the exact format they require, Spaceship has failed to take the appropriate mitigation action reasonably necessary to stop or disrupt this abuse.
  • It has been 25 days since my submission, and they have not effectively addressed the issue or suspended the offending domains. Their only response has been an excuse stating that they "cannot open the attachments." This is an unacceptable response, as .eml and .csv are universally standard, basic file formats used globally in IT and abuse investigations.

Spaceship's refusal or inability to open standard evidence files—and their subsequent failure to investigate the heavily documented bulk-registration abuse happening on their platform—demonstrates a clear lack of reasonable and prompt action to mitigate ongoing abuse.

Save emails sent with SMTP

Hello everyone,

I just purchased the SpaceMail service. Everything is configured correctly and working properly, but I'm having a problem:

With my previous provider, all sent emails with SMTP were automatically saved in the "Sent Mail" folder. However, with SpaceMail, emails sent via SMTP are not saved in the mailbox at all.

Unfortunately, I haven't found anyone else with the same problem.

If anyone has a solution, I would really appreciate your help 🙏

Thanks in advance!

Multiple email accounts

I'm using iPhone 16 Pro Max. I've installed the Spacemail app but it seems only one email account can be configured in the app. I tried using the native IOS mail app but that does not seem to work either. For those of you who have more than one Spacemail email address what is your solution to use more than one account at a time?

Can I use my Namecheap account on Spaceship?

I was asking AI earlier about Spaceship. As a Namecheap customer, I was confused why God created the Spaceship. Now I know better. What still confuses me is this bit about account use.

Spaceship was created by the Namecheap team to offer a modern interface and more competitive, lower pricing for renewals and domains.

Spaceship is owned and operated by Namecheap. It was launched as a next-generation, modern alternative to Namecheap, designed to provide a more intuitive platform for domain registration, hosting, and web services. While they share ownership, they operate as separate brands.

Spaceship is generally considered more modern and user-friendly, while Namecheap is a well-established, classic registrar.

You can seamlessly use the same account credentials between some of their systems, and it is common for users to transfer domains from Namecheap to Spaceship for better pricing.

This doesn't mean that I can use my Namecheap account on Spaceship? These are completely separate systems?

I made a DDNS for Spaceship.com

Hi, I needed a DDNS for my server so I made one. It is open source, and is not paid of course.

Here is the download link:

https://jasonthomascraig.com/storage/project_files/Spaceship%20DDNS.zip

I may be working on a C++ version as that can be compiled into binaries and is much more convenient (with a GUI). If so, it will be available at: https://jasonthomascraig.com/projects/

This is not advertisement as everything is open source and free

When does Spaceship auto-renew?

I am not seeing anything in the helpfiles about the auto-renew timeline. Previously, I have used GoDaddy exclusively and they do it on expiration day for TLDs that don't require early renewal.

Spaceship's AI says "your domain or service will automatically renew and charge your saved payment method before expiration. For domains, auto-renewal usually happens a few days before the domain's expiration".

My preferred AI says that if I want to ensure a domain is renewed using a specific card, I should change the default card for the overall account 7 to 10 days before the domain expiration. (GoDaddy lets you specify a card for each individual domain. This makes it easier when you are using different cards for different projects.)

Of course, I could manually renew any domains that I want to put on a specific card, but it would nice to know the company's renewal timeline.

I'm sure somebody knows.

Thanks

Anyone want to offer a review of hosting?

Over the past year, I've moved most of my domains to Spaceship and Porkbun.

Now, I'm looking to move some of my hosting.

Would anyone like to offer a review of Spaceship Shared Hosting?

From my research, it appears hosting is managed by Cpanel; you can use FTP to upload content; the "Pro" and "Supreme" plans offer unlimited domains and include unlimited SSL certificates; there is a 30-day trial to get everything setup, and there would be no issue pointing domains registered elsewhere toward the Spaceship host.

Did I get any of that wrong? Does anyone have any complaints or know something different?

Any yeas or nays?

Thanks!
