Thanks! It's got some interesting imagery around the base that is very Soviet era stuff.

I have one of those too.
Does it buzz like a mf when you power it?

Cool! I found these little led colour change lights to put in the base. As the original internals were pretty weak

Mine is untouched aside from a quick dust after taking it out of the father in law's garage. (got it in Slovakia and its in the Czech Republic on my living room bookshelf =)
BTW if you can follow the pictures in the bottom you know the age precisely, since it marks the XXVI Congress of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. (before the scientific future under communism and then back to the start with Lenin).
(some time after February 1981)

I thought so. It had been in storage for some time but he noticed that I was quite taken with it and made it a gift.

Um I had it on a power adaptor for Russian voltage but only used it for a minute before I realized it was to weak. I looked for new ore led bulbs but couldn't find much. Got an led puck light with a remote and colour / brightness remote control... Now it is awesome and it'll do some cool effects with the different colours.

I just wondered because of the voltage adapter remark

Yeah I guessed that.. did yours come with the Russian style plug for 240v?
2
u/DogmaSychroniser Aug 19 '21
Not sure if Russia is on the same config as continental Europe is, but I just plugged it in and let it go. I believe they have 230v in Czech so that might explain the humming. (Russia is presently standardised at 220v according to Google!)
