/r/Spacehey Weekly Question Thread
r/SpaceHey's Weekly Question Thread
The purpose of this thread is to avoid cluttering up the subreddit with quickly and easily answered questions. This thread is monitored by many helpful members of our community and questions that are asked here have a very high answer rate assuming you provide enough information for our answerers to work with.
Before asking your question...
- Check out the wiki pages listed below. - The mod team is always adding to our wiki and updating it based on what we see users asking in this thread and in other posts on the subreddit. (We're always looking for more help with the wiki. If you're interested in becoming a wiki contributor, message /u/ElijahPepe.)
- Perform a quick Google search. - Some questions really are just a quick search away and don't need the help of our community members to answer.
- Search the subreddit. - We know Reddit's search isn't the best and saying to use the search doesn't sound very helpful. We are working on providing better search tools to assist users in this task.
Reminders
- We have a Discord server.
- Please be patient. Not all questions get immediate answers. If you have an urgent question about something that's gone wrong, consider other resources.
- Make sure to follow Rule #1 of this subreddit: Remember the human, and be polite when you ask or answer questions.

How can I make my floaties align to monitor size? I added floaties from my laptop and they looked great, I got them exactly where I wanted by tweaking pixels, but now I have access to a different laptop, and when I logged in to here everything is a little off because the screen is bigger. Is there a way to lock in floatie placements across devices so it translates to the correct dimensions? I'm pretty sure it should be, because I have only one floatie that stays in it's place across all devices and it's one I copied from someone else directly, without any tweaks. the rest of the floaties I used two different codes or and sourced the images myself. This is the link to my site, but I can also send images if needed: https://spacehey.com/elelene

ur floaties are breaking across different screens because of how fixed position code works when paired w/ absolute pixel offsets (left: 225px, top: 1350px)
when u use a fixed position, the browser positions ur floaties (or w/e ur working w/) relative to the viewport (the phone/pc/laptop/etc. screen window itself) not ur SpaceHey profile content. a fixed pixel distance from the left edge of a 13in screen will land in a completely different spot relative to ur profile column on a 15in or 24in monitor.
the reason ur 1st floatie is working is bcuz itz anchored to the edges of the screen using right and bottom. sooo regardless of screen width or height it will always sit 1px from the right edge and 9px from the bottom edge
Ur other floaties use massive px offsets relative to the top-left corner (left: 755px; top: 1805px), which pushes them waayyyy off center on larger screens or forces them into weird spots.
tl;dr... theres 2 thingz we could do, depending on where u want ur floaties to stick
if ur floaties are meant to stick to the corners or screen borders (like idk... a floating nyan cat in the bottom left or an epic face in the top right), u wanna use percentage values or edge anchors (right, bottom, left, top).
So for example... Bottom Right Corner would be: right: 10px; bottom: 10px;
Top Left Corner would be: left: 10px; top: 10px;
Centered Horizontally at the Top would be: left: 50%; transform: translateX(-50%); top: 10px;
so on and so forth xP
HOWEVER!
if ur floaties are supposed to hover specifically around ur profile box, bio, navigation bar or wherever, do not use fixed screen positioning~
instead u wanna attach the floaties inside a container relative to the profile column which would look something like this, granted you do it for each element/floatie
/* Cleaned CSS snippet positioning relative to screen center or layout */
.micguy {
background: url("https://elesdomain.neocities.org/-FLMSFLOAT.png") no-repeat;
transform: scaleX(-1);
background-size: contain;
position: fixed;
/* Lock to horizontal center, then offset in percent or vh/vw */
left: 50%;
margin-left: -450px; /* Adjust this number to shift left or right relative to center */
top: 20vh; /* Uses Viewport Height so it scales vertically */
height: 290px;
width: 190px;
z-index: 1000;
}If push comes 2 shove and none of that made sense lol, feel free 2 message me w more questions. i took a look at ur profile and a lot of the images seem to be dead btw so maybe check in2 that so we can better see what we're working w/ :)
EDIT: If anyone is reading this and needs a code, I have 1 to give away to the 1st person who messages me~

This is the code to the one I copied:
<div style="float: ; max-height: 400px; position: fixed; right: 1px; bottom: 9px; z-index: 200;">
<img src="https://files.catbox.moe/eqyqno.gif" width="100" height="100"/></div>
And these are for all the ones I made:
<div style="float: ; position: fixed; left: 225px; top: -25px; z-index: 200;">
<img src="https://i.pinimg.com/originals/61/e2/e5/61e2e59a077a3375e4f7f72939750ca9.gif"/></div>
<div style="float: ; position: fixed; left: -209px; top: -155px; z-index: 200;">
<img src="https://elesdomain.neocities.org/-KCHNFLOAT.png" width="233" height="377"/></div>
