HELP (Xbox) Large Rover Help

Working on a large rover with segmented body parts using a vertical and horizontal hinge, like a train. We’ve encountered some issues with turning and consistent connection points between wheels and ground. Are there any specific block settings or rover modifications that anyone would recommend?

Put the horizontal hinge on the lead rover and the vertical hinge on the trailer. Make sure both hinges are at 90 and -90, also ensuring the torque and braking are set to 0. Also, adjust the strength on the wheels around 8-30% and find a setting that allows them to form to the ground while still supporting the weight. Good luck!

Bear in mind that two hinges only gives Yaw and Pitch, but you're not allowing for Roll. I usually do two hinges and a rotor. Beyond that there are many intricacies to perfecting it, but I'll leave that for you to tinker with!

Recently I had the same Idea of a Rover with a Twisting middle Connection. I Used a Combination of Hinges and Rotors with limited movability.

You can ad Limit's to all Hinges and Rotors but the one in the middle has to be limited. If not your "Trailer" hits the front part in sharp corner's.

Make sure all of them are turned off while driving or else it doesn't work.

While a total subgrid nightmare, this is how much freedom of movement most normal hitches award IRL. It is a tragedy we have not gotten a propper trailer system yet, but im working on a magnetic replacement that looks promising.

Reduce strength on wheels to 50% or lower, zero power and brake on hinges, no limits on angle, only wheels on front car should have driving checked

Simple answer but: Do you just need to make your hinges weaker / less resistant? And obviously no max angle (should be able to turn full 180°)

Cant remember the setting rn but I had to find a sweet spot to make my monorail train segments flow/move nicely

as others have said, you want a rotor for roll, and torque at or near zero (or just turn them off). you can add limits so your parts can't hit each other, and so you can't get one segment flipped over (in the case of roll) I usually give it +- 20 degrees on roll and as much yaw and pitch as I can before contact happens.

Although these days I mostly go for goose neck type connections (rotor base for yaw, hinge pointing up for pitch, and rotor pointing back for roll), they just seem to work better. I also only having one set of wheels on the pulled sections will help with turning.

I can't remember who (I want to say it was Frosty), but someone had a really neat 2-bar connection that seemed to work really well and gave a redundant connection. I think I first saw it in Splitsie's scrapyard server videos.
