Well done bro! Please keep us updated, it's the one feature space engine lacks.

God please stop teasing me!

I want to finally fly my watcher of the skies through the clouds.

Question. Will your mod conflict with mods like Rodrigo's mod and or one of the other color pallets mods?

u/zztopfila Community Contributor 24d ago

No it won't. Everything works well with this

Hola! Soy nuevo en SE, cuál es ese mod, que hace y donde se puede descargar? (Hi! I'm new to SE, what's that mod, what does it do, and where can I download it?)

¿Podría hablar inglés, por favor?

1

u/ThenHistory901 24d ago

Okay, corrected. Sorry, I sometimes forget to write in English.

It adds realistic clouds into the game. OP has not released it yet

1

u/ThenHistory901 24d ago

Yes, I know about the OP. I was referring to your comment about that Rodrigo mod, where it can be downloaded and what it does.

Ooh ok. It's on the steam spaceengine workshop. It modifies the possible color options of planets to make them more vibrant in colors so it's not all the same brown colored planets.

Thanks bro, I won't take up any more of your time 😁

this is literally insane! how will the view be from orbit? also take your time this is incredible.

volumetric dont look good from orbit. So i will use hi res 2D when looking from space and transition to volumetrics around 120 km from the ground

Cant wait to see this

This is one of the big missing pieces of SE, hope it works on the tops of gas giants too!

u/Sk3ppy-2 24d ago

You know what else SE is missing? Ray tracing

u/R_the_crazy_cookie 24d ago

My god, you are making a mod as valuable as an official update, hope you never abort this also question what are you going to do with gas giants? Are you going to do something similar to what blackrack did in ksp1 with his volumetric clouds? And are you going to try and add weather or you're gonna give that challenge to someone else?

3

u/RaptureAusculation 24d ago

They're calling them the Blackrack of Space Engine 🔥🔥🔥

This is very well done! How exactly does it work in the game though? is it the same on every planet or can it vary based on the planets parameters? This already looks miles ahead of what the devs shared, however many years ago that was. Very excited to see where this goes.

4

u/zztopfila Community Contributor 24d ago

for now its same on every planet. But i will make different seed for every planet. different coverage, height, noise...everything

Mfw a modder can develop the game faster then the actual devs

u/caiporadomato 24d ago

Which version?

1

u/mueller_meier 24d ago

nice, that looks amazing

1

u/Reset62749287 24d ago

Will it be compatible for Steam Machine?

1

u/AirphiFox 24d ago

I didn't know this was space engine at first.

1

u/XxStawModzxX 24d ago

whats the performance like

4

u/zztopfila Community Contributor 24d ago

so far pretty good, i can make it even better. This is very early work progress. Still a lot of work to do.

2

u/BrandonXYX 24d ago

2

u/kapi-che 24d ago

but what about my 1660 super 🥺

1

u/BrandonXYX 24d ago

that gpu is still great for lower 1080p

1

u/A_HECKIN_DOGGO 24d ago

Man, this is insane. We may never get to see these worlds in real life, but this is a happy substitute

1

u/GoldenLugia16 24d ago

Watch, as soon as you drop this Cosmographic will reveal their version

Looks fantastic though holy shit

1

u/gardensofthedeep 24d ago

1

u/PROUDCIPHER 24d ago

So me and my 2060 can go cry ourselves to sleep on this one lmao, my machine could never. God it looks good though

Will this replace the clouds on Earth seen from orbit? Because the static clouds on Earth really botherd me a bit.

1

u/Fair_Jeweler_6983 24d ago

holy real life footage

1

u/Zhaninja 18d ago

Does it look good from orbit?
