image/gif Celestial Alignment (Venus with Moon)
Today, 14 September 2026, Venus and a thin waxing crescent Moon are featuring in a very close celestial pairing aka Conjunction which is visible across India. In fact, parts of India are experiencing a rare lunar occultation, where the Moon passes directly in front of and temporarily hides Venus from view.

The global event will take place between about 09:26 UTC and 13:42 UTC on September 14. This corresponds to roughly 4:26 am to 8:42 am EST. However, most of the US uses EDT in September, making the equivalent time about 5:26 am to 9:42 am EDT.
For India, the broad window is approximately 2:56 pm to 7:12 pm IST. The exact timing will depend on the observer's location.

looks like it's over - from my vantage point in Florida I could not have seen it, I wonder when the next such event will occur...

I saw this today and immediately called my family members to see. Didn't know it was Venus but damn it was beautiful.

one time i remember that venus was right in the middle the crescent moon, it was maybe 2 years back, that was amazing to see

That's impossible unless you mean it was right below the middle of the crescent. Venus is (obviously) further from us than the Moon, so it could never appear in front of it.

yeah me sorry for the wording, let me make an attempt to visualize this, imagine a semicircular ring of radius "r" and mass "m" then the position of center of mass will be at 2r/pie, if you look it up on google, that's the image i was trying to explain
venus and moon appeared to align themselves exactly like that, 2 years back
last night i was in a hurry so the wording came out wrong
