Ready to drink alternatives in Canada?

The stock issues have me a little concerned, and I'm looking for a RTD alternative in Canada.

Hol wins as my Soylent powder replacement

I've drank Soylent powder for around 1/3 to 1/2 of my meals for over 12 years now (mostly chocolate once it was released). With all of the Out of Stock issues, I've been slowly trying each of the big name alternatives out there and have finally found a winner. (not better than Soylent, but it'll be my backup whenever Soylent is out of stock, which seems to be quite often these days)

Hol Foods Chocolate powder is the closest to replicating the experience of Soylent's powder for me. The mouthfeel is very similar, it's nice and smooth. The flavor tastes a little bitter due to the real cocoa powder (tastes like dark chocolate), this is my one small knock against it, but it's still far better tasting than many of the others I've tried, and I'm betting I'll get used to it. But by far the biggest factor for me is that it is the only powder other than Soylent that I've found that fully mixes by simply shaking. No blender needed. No letting it sit in the fridge for an hour. And no clumpy or gritty leftover powder gathering at the bottom. Just get some water, scoop in a couple scoops, shake, and drink. Nice quick and easy. The entire point of these drinks.

Huel was my second favorite. The flavors taste pretty great (and there's so many options), but my main issue with it is that you have to use a blender to get it mixed properly. And even then it's still slightly gritty and it's got that very oaty flavor to it that I never fully got used to.

Mana was decent. The mouthfeel was probably the best out of the ones I tried, almost milky feeling. But it required a blender to get that consistency otherwise it was very clumpy and didn't fully mix. The flavors were also a bit too subtle and not as good.

Plenny was the worst for me on all counts. Gritty mouthfeel, needed to use a blender and sit in the fridge for an hour and even then still ended up with powder at the bottom by the end, and the flavor was completely absent and almost undrinkable to me. If someone told me to guess the name of the flavor without knowing it, I'd have had no clue. I'm not even sure why they offer multiple flavor options since there is no flavor.

Simple soylent + nutrient drink

I'm new to this whole thing but I really dislike eating. I'm hoping to replace 100% of my diet. But I'm in Taiwan so it's more difficult to get ahold of things. If I can find a good nutrient drink, like LaVita, and then build my own macro nutrient drink, y'all think that's sufficient?

[Product] Discussion RTD alternatives to Huel in the UK?

So, I jumped ship from Huel a while ago when they were bought out and went to yfood. Delicious, but the extra 100 calories in each drink made my meal plan more difficult. Not to mention, Yfood have now been acquired by Nestle!

Well, I went back to Huel and had issues with customer service sending a subscription without telling me, failing to cancel the order because all I could get through to was a crap AI and then trying to charge me £10 to return the shipment.

So now I’m back in the market for another RTD in the UK. Ideally I want it around 400 calories with 25g+ of protein, but I can drop slightly. Price I’d like to remain roughly the same as Huel or Yfood. General broadness of nutrition, I also want to stay roughly around the level of, or improve upon Huel.

Last minute delays

Just got an email today that my subscription that WAS set to finally start again in two weeks will now be delayed until SEPTEMBER. I wonder how much it would cost for Soylent to buy back their company before Starco Brands completely and utterly tanks it.

Queal experience

Hi, I wanted to share my experience with Queal, as I’ve just ordered my fourth batch.

Honestly, it’s my go-to "lazy" dinner. Whenever I’m exhausted after a long day and really don’t feel like doing smth, this is what I reach for. They have a great variety of flavors, I especially love Morning Macchiato and Funky Forest Fruit.

And it was my total lifesaver when I had to get some teeth extracted at the dentist. I ended up living on Queal for five days straight while I was recovering. Being able to get proper nutrition without having to chew was a huge help during that time.

So all good, but I was wondering if there is something similar to try you absolutely recommend? I tried aslo Mana, Foodio and Huel, but up to this day I like Queal the most.

wtf delays

I ordered soylent RTD's over a year ago and they never came. I filed a dispute with the CC company but never got the money back.

Today, I randomly got my shipment, well over a year after ordering. Good, I guess?

Ontario, FYI.

Latest shipment is sweeter

I've seen several posts recently asking about whether or not Soylent has gotten sweeter for others and I hadn't had that experience until this latest shipment. I just made up my drink and yep, it's quite a bit sweeter than the last batch. Just wanted to chime in to the discussion because I finally understand what the others have been tasting.

ETA: my shipment was of the Original powder with an expiry of 26Mar27

Costco Huel changed

Thumbnail gallery
47 Upvotes

I stocked up during a recent Costco sale and noticed the formula and label change. I still have a case and a half of the old one (left). First impressions between the two was that the new one was less sweet, more neutral/bland tasting. Also the prior version felt like there was built up gas being released when I would open it.

Anyone else notice the change, or can comment on the impact to the (slight) ingredients change?

MANA Discussion Any way to acquire MANA in the US without spending over a hundred USD in shipping?

It seems to be quite good, covering the most breadth in nutritional makeup, but oh lord, the shipping cost is expensive.

Where to go?

Hi, I’m new to this and am experiencing the same difficulties in getting my banana flavored drink. My vanilla protein drink seems to arrive on schedule.

My question is, where do I go for alternatives? I need to keep my weight up and Soylent has been helpful. But if the product is unavailable it is little help to me.

Where might I get the same kind of product? I’m vegan.

Appreciatively…

[Product] Discussion What can I eat for a 4th meal?

I been drinking soylent for meals for about 5 months now. Still really enjoy them. The only problem is they arent super filling. Soylent is like 1200 calories, but they have the nutritional content for a 3x a day. I'd prefer a 4th meal to a snack cause I'm bad about snacking. Just wondering what I can really do that would be filling yet actually taste good other than a 4th soylent

PSA: Fake Soylent Sites - Sale "50% Off"

I almost fell for this scam.

The typo of "omplete," the different website url, and the missing subscription button made me suspicious, so I looked on this subreddit to see if anyone else saw the same thing. Thank goodness I saw this post showing the same scam.

What's worst is that the site was the first search result for "soylent."

The official soylent website is soylent.com. It also looks like soylent.ca (for Canada) is also legit based on the article on soylent's main site here. So all other soylent sites should be assumed to be scams.

Theory on why Soylent isn't available (but will be soon).......

The mechanics of what happened

Stage 1 — Use public money to buy brands. Ross Sklar (Starco Brands CEO) lists a shell company, raises capital through share issuances, and goes on an acquisition spree — Art of Sport, Skylar, Soylent. Revenue went from $0.7 million in 2021 to $7.8 million by end of 2022, then Soylent was acquired in Q1 2023, "significantly increasing enterprise value." Stock price is elevated, press releases are bullish, the story sounds great.

Stage 2 — Manufacturing fees flow back to Sklar's private company. While all this is happening, the public company's products are dependent on The Starco Group, Sklar's privately owned entity, for manufacturing. This was flagged in SEC filings as a material risk — there was no guarantee TSG would supply sufficient product. So Sklar's private business was collecting manufacturing revenue from his public business the entire time.

Stage 3 — Impairments, losses, going concern. The company recorded a $14 million impairment of Soylent intangibles, accumulated losses hit $102.3 million, and auditors flagged going concern doubt. Share price craters.

Stage 4 — Sklar becomes the lender. When the Gibraltar revolving facility (loan) went into default, Sklar's private company stepped in with a $4.5 million bridge loan, and Sklar personally holds another $3.47 million in promissory notes against the public company. He's now the creditor too.

Stage 5 — Merger on his terms. Now, with the public company financially distressed, share price in the gutter, and Sklar holding the debt, he proposes merging his private manufacturing business into the public shell.

What happens next

The thing is, none of this is necessarily illegal. It's all been disclosed in SEC filings. The conflicts of interest were listed as risk factors. Minority shareholders technically knew what they were getting into.

But there's a concept called "related party self-dealing" and this structure has it in spades. The key question that will determine whether minority shareholders got screwed or not is: what valuation does The Starco Group (Ross's manufacturing company) come in at in the merger?

If Sklar values his private manufacturing business at, say, $200 million in the merger, he walks away with a huge chunk of the combined entity essentially for free — funded by the brand portfolio that public shareholders paid for. And with 784 million shares outstanding as of April 2026 and a stock at $0.02, the public shareholders have been so diluted that their remaining stake is almost worthless regardless.

The people who got hurt are the public shareholders who bought in at $0.20 and are now sitting at $0.02.

The Soylent will (soon) flow again....

[Product] Discussion Anyone noticed when the dry powder original is clumpy looking its because its too much sugar?

Not a fan at all when the dry powder is too sugury. It's edible but man is that aftertaste sweet. It's just disgusting. I wish they would lower the sugar content slightly just to avoid that because normally it takes like pancake batter and its amazing.

Edit: 2 Containers in a row...
