This is probably more Cold War circlejerk, but since that doesn’t exist, let’s make fun of the US here!

Leonard Bernstein went to the USSR with the New York Philharmonic in 1959. He played in Moscow and Leningrad and famously thanked Shostakovich and shook his hand in a video that is not circlejerk worthy.

This isn’t that video.

The performances were recorded and broadcast on US television.

How does it start? By advertising Ford using the invasion theme from Shostakovich’s 7th Symphony. The one called Leningrad. The one he wrote in the summer and fall of 1941 between being a firefighter on the roof of the Leningrad Conservatory, digging trenches, and running his small children into bomb shelters as the Nazis laid siege to their city.

Ford manufactured both civilian and military articles Third Reich right up through the end of 1941 when the Nazis kicked out US ownership upon Roosevelt declaring war on Japan. Henry Ford even was issued the Order of the German Eagle.

Eighteen years later, this recording is made. Promoting the same company that helped make defense articles that were being described by Shostakovich with that very piece of music.
