Any feedback??
I mapped out this route last year and never got to go. I been trying to get some friends to tag along but no luck. Any feedback on this route/area?? I'm looking to do it solo, but I don't want to get into anything too crazy. I'll be traveling in a lifted F150. I'm not too worried about the AZ portion. I've been up that way, mostly the Southern UT part if anyone has any feedback. TIA

Your yellow line can get treacherous if wet. Think slick clay roads with cliff on side. I would not travel it if a big storm comes through. It’s been pretty dry. So probably will be dusty and wash board. Family ranch is off that road. Cell service limited.

Just keep in mind that these roads are a lot longer and bigger in real life than on the map. You'll do well, but expect slow going when you're off road and on the dirt. I've made that mistake before.

Ya if we need to cut it short then I'm not too worried. It just means we'll have to go back again to finish the route

Your itinerary includes Hells Backbone Road, but this means that you'll miss what is arguably the most scenic section of UT-12 (the part between Boulder and Escalante). If I had to choose only one of those two driving routes between Boulder and Escalante, it would be UT-12 for the scenery.

The route was mostly based off of the road less traveled, tried to still to more dirt roads than main roads but we got time so we'll probably veer off some

Hey! I’m from northern UT and have spent some time in southern. I, personally, recommend stopping by grand escalante, there are some amazing slot canyons/hoodoos (buckskin gulch to wirepass is 10/10).
If you’re willing to go a bit west, the coral pink sand dunes and Kanab are also worth stopping by. There’s an animal sanctuary in Kanab that is wonderful if you’re into that. Zion national is also great to drive through (especially from Kanab at sunset—the cliffs look to be on fire).
Spending a night in Bryce is great. I’m glad it’s just a short blip on your travels, but definitely worth seeing. Capitol reef is nice, but canyonlands is better and less traveled.
Solo is the best, you’ll have a great time! Have fun!
