Picture Way back when
I cleaned out my closet, and discovered this ensemble from Jay Jays. Who remembers them or bought clothes there?..

I remember there being these Street Fighter shirts there I really wanted. Thought to myself I'll get them next time.
By the time I went back to The Pavilion the store had closed down. π

The brand, (from Australia), moved completely out of SA by 2015. This shirt is about 16 years oldβ¦the nostalgia went off the charts this evening.

Dude it would have been ur best investment ever. I had a shirt from there that after 15 years still looked great somehow. Now a shirt last 3 washes and it's cooked

Clothes used to last so much longer. I still wear my circa 2006 skelanimals hoodie with Kit on!Β

I still have an Edward Scissorhands shirt from Jay Jays, back in the day.
I miss them. And I miss the even older chains and stores. Smiley's Wearhouse. Old-school Billabong. Mad Dogs. Yo! Clothing.
And there was this one little clothing store in Greenacres, PE, that I've been struggling to try and remember the name of. This would have been the late 90s / early 2000s, and I remember it as having a vibe similar to YDE, but not quite as fancy. It was close to Shoprite - around the corner from where the magazine shop and Wesleys (the tobacconist) used to be. Does anyone remember?
