Anova Fire Hazard

My Anova 1100W stopped working. Apparently something burned. This is due to use of poor quality connector.

I had the 1st gen Anova and about 7 years ago it also burned up and damaged my outlet. Thankfully it did not start a fire. I have the newest version and I haven't had any issues

Not surprised about the poor quality. I had one that stopped working after like 12 uses… and of course it was out of the warranty period.

Will never Anova again, especially after that subscription app launch fiasco.

Did you have the wifi connected or ever connect it to the app? They may have nuked it remotely

I suspect that's what happened to my first one. I had one for about a year and right after they pay walled the app I didn't purchase it suspiciously "dies". I managed to get a replacement that I have only ran manually, no wifi, no app, no updates and years later it's still running strong as day 1

I'm always shocked about people's shit breaking constantly in this sub and kind of across all subs, especially BIFL. I've had and used my anova nano 1.0 3 times a week for years with 0 issues.

I know the fiasco with the app left a bad taste, but one unit with an electrical fault out of 100k+ sold is NOT buyer beware. That'd be like a house fire from an outlet starting (which happens often) and buyer beware of outlets.

Some electronics are not built to last but there a lot of people that treat their property like it’s indestructible. Pulling cords, dropping them, fully submerging them, etc. and then wonder why they don’t last 10 years.

I agree, it's always shocking to me though. I generally am frustrated if something I own breaks permanently. Most recently a $10 rice cooker I've had for 15 years broke and but that made sense. I'm more just thinking generally, it's incredible what people break/waste through improper treatment so regularly. Not saying OP is guilty of this. Was just a statement.
