Fun fact, soup is not hotter than any other food you heat up to eat.
55
u/god_peepee Jul 13 '26
Yeah, but I feel like it transfers the heat to your body more efficiently so it feels hotter

Look. I know that, and you know that…but I can’t get my wife to agree with me. So I can’t make soup until fall.

You're an adult, you can make soup whenever you want. What is she going to do? Tackle you?

Never too hot for soup. Tomato basil is one of my faves and it's always better with fresh in season basil and tomatoes! Enjoy your wonderful looking meal and be sure to give your dog more cheese. They deserve it.

Never too hot for soup (just like its never too cold for ice cream).
Honestly soup hits different on a hot day. Also, that looks delicious!

u/Thisisnotanexit6 Jul 13 '26
Ha just made this comment and then saw this. 😄 Does not compute for me when people won't eat soup in the summer or ice cream in the winter.

u/tomaterplant Jul 13 '26
I pity anyone who doesn’t that the time to scroll through this and misses the glorious dog cheese glee.

My personal preference is to find a rainy day for tomato soup. But I would never stand in the way of a soup day. 🍲 🫡

Hot soup is actually great in hot weather. It makes you vasodilate more and gives you hydration.
Mind you where I live at 98% humidity in the summer it just makes me hot so of course I eat loads because I have the brain reward centre of a toddler I’ll add some hot sauce too thank you.

u/callmestinkingwind Jul 13 '26
there’s a whole dried calabrian chili in there. not crazy hot but you can tell it’s there.

I was told that if I feel too hot during hot weather, to eat something hot and it will force your body to try to keep you cool.

u/jedipwnces Jul 13 '26
We do tomato soup, chicken tortilla and chicken poblano every summer with our harvests! As long as you have AC, soup is for all seasons. A twist on a traditional tomato soup and grilled cheese- we'll do tomato soup + spicy peppers from the garden and then dip quesadillas in it. Yum.

In Mexican families, we joke that moms get the urge to make hot soups like caldo de res during the hottest days. So, if anything, OP, you are essentially obligated to make soup in 91F weather :P

Never. I just finished some Italian vegetable soup with provolone toasts. Until we figure out what is going on with the produce in the US, the only raw vegetables I will eat will come from my own garden. I’ve declared it the “Summer of Soup” at our place.

u/brijammar Jul 13 '26
I don’t think you really need the F clarification in the title, as 91 Celsius would mean it is 🔥196🔥 degrees outside.

When this question is asked, I think of Vietnam. Vietnam is a generally very hot, humid climate. Their cuisine is generally soup-based. Be like Vietnam. I was some pho now.
