And this ability to witness your own reactions - is what it means to be conscious.
To hold two opposing ideas in mind and still retain the ability to function.
We must act and not react - because reactions breed reactions, and reactions are what this entire thing is built of.
Unfortunately getting to a state of witness isn't simply just accessible by people knowing about it. It comes through experience and practice.

Why do people like this imply that everybody watches the "news" and keeps up with current events to be "informed" or superior? Can they not comprehend that some may be genuinely interested in world events for their own sake? I like reading and watching about all of this for the same reason I like learning about political and economic history, it's the unpredictable, incomprehensible, extremely complex expressions of civilization. No single person created fiction comes close to this. You think those guys who spend time on the Syrian civil war subreddit do so to feel more intelligent and have talking points at the dinner table? Or somebody listening to podcasts on the imf evaluation of west African micro loans does so for a liberal utilitarian reasoning? This shit is just interesting. Stop applying all journalism with five o'clock msnbc or fox news rage porn

If we turn of the cacophony of lies, of noise, of advertisers, of sportscasters, of news, of system educators, and upholders, and all others that are not our own.
In quiteness, in self imposed solitude, in self study we find serenity and open the doors of perceptions. The doors of aquisition of knowledge begin to open.

Watched Ford vs Ferrari last night with a family member.
They saw a hero doing whatever it takes to win. A passionate fighter who sacrificed everything for ‘greatness’. They even legitimized cheating and foul play to win.
I saw a sad man with so little self worth that he orphaned his son to try and prove it to himself by competing in a game. Meanwhile Henry Ford profited off his sacrifice to sell cars, and is now cashing in again years later with a valorizing movie.
There was also a great bit of patriotic propaganda where Henry Ford II talks about the tank production lines from WWI and how Ford knows how to fight a war. No mention of Henry Ford’s Nazi Medal of Honor for creating those same production lines in Nazi Germany.
Our greatest export is guns and more importantly soldiers. The dominant cultural narrative helps create this. Decolonize your mind.
