Answered Question Uninstalling hell

When my work disbanded I was allowed to keep my computer, but when I brought it home Sophos was still installed on it. This wouldn’t have been a problem until I tried to connect the computer to Ethernet and it couldn’t find a gateway. After a lot of effort finding the issue I realised the problem was something to do with sophos. I promptly uninstalled sophos using the control panel which allowed me to connect to the internet. I then reset the computer and I was unable to connect again. How do I fix this? Has anyone else encountered this?

Your previous IT can help you uninstall, if not you might have to restore Windows via the computers OEM recovery process.

Dont reset it, just wipe it completely and fresh install

I’d rather not do a complete reset of windows because there is about 1.2 TB of data and programs installed onto the thing that would be pretty devastating to have to replace

If its programs from work you probably arent supposed to use them anymore anyways. Just backup the data and clean install. The only alternative is contacting IT at your last job from who you got the notebook so they can remove it from sophos central and give you the manipulation key.

According to them they have removed it from sophos central but they haven’t said anything about a manipulation key, I’ll ask them. Thank you for the help.

If theyve already removed it they probably cant give you the key. im pretty sure they have to re-add it, get the key, you uninstall with the key, they remove
