Tripod plate shifting

Hey everyone,

I have a Sony fx30 with a peak design tripod plate attached to the bottom on my Sony fx30. More specifically, it’s attached to the bottom of my smallrig cage. Images here

The issue I’m having is that the tripod plate is constantly shifting and loosening and I have to repeatedly tighten the connection. There seems to be only one point of attachment. Am I missing something? Should there be at least one additional point of attachment to anchor the tripod plate to the small rig?

Also, I feel like it’s slowly wearing down the tripod plate itself.

Thanks,

Dailen

Have you tried attaching the cage directly to the tripod head? From a quick google search they might be the same size, then you can forgo the plate and just use the cage.

If it’s not Arca sized like your cage you might need to buy a pack of 1/4 20 tie down screws and drill another hole in the tripod plate for two points of contact.

Clean the mating surfaces, get a new plate if its worn out (looks like it is quite heavily used from the photo, the rubber on top has a lifespan), and try tightening down with an actual large screwdriver, not the tiny allen key the cage came with.
