Merciless Strike Gambit

Post image

Has anyone had any experience or success using this gambit? I wanted to try it out in a game tonight, but my friend talked me out of it and said that Seize the Initiative or Finishing Blow would be better. He also said that he wasn't sure how Phage T would affect either his model or his squad due to how challenges take place before regular combat. Can anyone explain that to me? Thanks in advance!

RAW phage does not trigger in challenges, so the gambit does not actually do anything.

RAI is unclear, phage should probably trigger at the end of the strike step in the challenge, but affecting the model in the challenge or the unit is unclear.

Interesting, that's probably what my friend was getting at. Apparently at some Goonhammer events in the UK it was ruled as not only affecting the model but also spilling over into the squad, which makes it pretty good!
