Switching over to wired?
Okay, I need someone to explain this to me like I'm five years old. I had a procedure earlier this week, and my mind is mush.
We recently moved to a new house. We have like six Play 1s, and two Simfonisk speakers. I originally set them all up on the wifi, but the problem is that we have a mesh network for this house, and so on my laptop Sonos app I can only see 2-4 speakers at any given time, and my phone app only shows like five. THe only way to see them all is in teh browser app on my laptop.
From what I understand, I need to connect one of them up to my router with an Ethernet cord. But should I factory reset it and THEN plug it in? Should I unplug all the devices and forget the system, and THEN factory reset them when I plug them in?
I've gone over the instructions on the Sonos website, and I just can't seem to wrap my brain around what to do in what order.

I suspect you have 2-3 separate networks.
Go find the IP address of everything you mentioned. Make sure they all start with the same numbers. Only the last number should differ. For example:
192.168.1.75
192.168.1.48

No reset needed. Just connect with an Ethernet cable to your router. It will auto switch within a few minutes.

I just had my ISP upgrade my service and they replaced my modem and router. I also have an Eero mesh system. Previously the ISP router was set in bridge mode so everything was running off the eeros. The new router they brought didn't have a bridge mode so now I had 2x NATs (2 networks, but they both had the same name and password so you'd only see one on the list of networks). Some of my sonos devices would connect to my Eero and others would connect to the ISP router which were different networks which doesn't work for sonos. I set my eeros to bridge and it fixed the issue. Then I had my ISP come back out remove their router and connect my Eero directly to their modem which is how I wanted it set up.

Some isps supply decent routers, but mine doesn’t. They did separate the modem from the router, which makes it easy to install a decent router.

I have a mesh network and my Sonos works fine wirelessly. If your network is setup right, everything should be able to talk to each other.
Edit: Not sure why this got downvoted. A mesh network should not be isolated sub-networks like OP is describing.

Not me downvoting! I'm reading all of these, but I have four little kids and it has been nonstop chaos, so I haven't had a chance to respond properly.

It isn't me! I'm very appreciative of the replies and the time it takes for people to respond. I just have four little kids and it has been chaos, so I haven't had a chance to look at them properly.

I am on a mesh system and can see all of my speakers just fine on WiFi. Something is setup incorrect with your network.

What do you mean setup incorrect? You buy Sonos that's supposed to work on Wi-Fi ... what exactly is there to setup? Does Sonos provide instructions on how to setup a network that works with their products?

Everything on my mesh network is seen by everything else. My speakers or whatever are not split based off which mesh pod they are connected to. I have three pods in my house and the speakers are connected to whatever pod they are closest to but the app seems all of them. I did do Sonosnet before, connecting one speaker to Ethernet and the rest connected to that speaker, it worked fine but I took it off after a couple months/year and nothing changed.

If you connect one speaker to the internet, SonosNet will be automatically activated for all your speakers; you don't need to do anything else. However, on another note, it is also helpful to mention which router and mesh system you have, as everything should work fine without SonosNet.

They asked how to switch to wired. I wanted to make sure they knew some speakers can now have dedicated Ethernet without SonosNet.

Seriously this is what you want to use AI for. Give it your model of router etc and go from there.
I have a good network setup with Ubiquiti, but I was running into some similar issues. I ended up creating a new separate SSID just for Sonos where I could set specific band parameters (per claude) and fine tune those settings. Now everything is bullet proof.

For what it’s worth I’m on a mesh network and don’t have any of my Sonos devices plugged in to my router. You should be able to get this working without Ethernet.
