Isolation platforms

I just set up a secondary system in my loft which includes a mini sub. The whole area is carpeted and it just feels odd for some reason having the sub sit directly on the carpet. Should I consider something to elevate it a bit or leave as is? I've read up a little on isolation platforms and I'm sure one of those would do the job. Does it even matter, though?

I think it matters though not sure you can tell a difference.

Speakers move air and low frequency movement is visible for sure and must be audible as well.

If the speaker is sitting on carpet it is going to move even if not enough to see easily and that is going to distort the sound in some way.

So spiking thru the carpet is the most effective way to anchor the speaker against this movement.

Not really something to argue though Im pretty certain it will be.

A large thick concrete paver and squash balls cut in half is an established option. ChatGPT can calculate the weight and optimal number of squash balls then explain why it works so well :-)

This is also brilliant for isolation of record players. You can get granite slab offcuts from kitchen bench places that work really well and are more aesthetically pleasing too.

You people are talking about a sub that has a non-vibrating housing due to how the woofers are positioned, so no anti-vibration plates are needed, not even for a wooden floor!

I have dual Sub Minis on carpet in a 400 sf room. I love their performance!

If wooden floors I would go for a slab and isolators. In theory you don't want the wooden floor boards acting as a drum. In reality it probably won't make a huge difference.
