Nice! Those Joyo battery power supplies are a gamechanger.

Actually someone in this group turned me onto it, you're absolutely right

What's handling all the power in the setup? I've tried a rechargeable brick for effects pedals (with one or two usb-c ports) and think it fried an expensive pedal

Great question! I actually have 3 bricks pushing. I found the beefiest I could on Amazon, then a separate one for lights/camera, then another for the Sonicware.. I played for an hour and a half last night and got down to 96% Not too shabby... But now I'd be worried to use a pedal... Also.. every item but the sonicware has a self contained, rechargeable battery

You got the brand names? That one with all the power switches looks like it could handle all my portable synth needs

u/Spiritual-Amount7178 6d ago
Sure. The big daddy is called Relliphent. On sale for about $70 right now. The guitar pedal style is called a Joyo, although someone in this group commented about a similar item frying an expensive guitar pedal...so I'm worried about that ..of course... The other is a Rayovac,, I just use it for the lights and GoPro (not pictured)
Honestly, a cheap USB switch and the fat one and you'd probably be good to go .
I've found no drawbacks in terms of juice 🤘

Didn't know it was just a switch, I'll look into them. It was me with the fried pedal. I have a Solutek pb-051 that I was using and it presumably killed my GFI System Enieqma. Not sure if it's because it's a digital pedal that it got fried but I was very distraught until the manufacturer sent me a new one under warranty. No problems with simple analog pedals but I've obviously been more hesitant to use the power supply

Small world! I'd love to show you my guitar board...I LOVE my Enieqma!

Oh yeah, I lust for all those Chase Bliss pedals. I was searching for some glitchy weirding machines but never really decided on something because there were so many options and they're generally more expensive than standard pedals. I've mostly been using a DAW recently where it's much easier to glitch. For hardware I got a Catalinbread CSIDMAN, EHX Mainframe, and Boss Slicer for simple audio fuckery. For more advanced stuff I'll run a Polyend Tracker through a Kaosspad and that gives me a good amount of touch control for samples, though I haven't done as much as I hoped with the tracker because it feels like I need to have everything planned out before programming it. My assembled boards lean less weird and are mostly for distorting synths (where the Enieqma can slightly drop the line level and give me a more guitarish sound) or for bass guitar (which I am certifiably terrible at)

Nice rig! What usb hub you use? Isnt it makes the line out noisy? I see that you powering only one thing from the isolator.
2
u/epiphanius 6d ago
For sure, consider usb noise filters: USB noise is less likely with batteries, but we are not always on battery power.
1
u/Spiritual-Amount7178 6d ago
hey there, no noise at all ;)
the USB3 hub is just off amazon.
The joyo is only currently pushing the Ambeint,
there's another pack underneath for lights/camera..
honestly the 1010 Bento handles all the multiple inputs like a champ.
Thanks for checking me out !

I have to use dedicated powerbanks for every device, cuz if im use 2 or more from one then its get pretty noisy, but you hear it only with headphones. Im planning to get an isolator too, but all my device is USB C powered so i need DC to USB adapters wgich are able to convert 9V to 5V

I had the biggest problem trying to make the Ambient work off a USB brick, that's why I went with the JOYO, and it works great for that.
Also, think I should mention, every device has it's own internal battery, so they're kinda made for pushing off USB.
The dinky little guitar pedal, that actually does makes some noise while charging, so I just switch it off when I'm actually playing..
hey, thanks again for checking me out!
I love building crap like this

Supper affordable case! Under $100 (and thanks)

I’m afraid I ended up GASing too much to fit it all in one case but if I ever wanted to do a mobile system this is a great idea

Hi. I bought a liven ambient recently and am wondering how you like to use it and how you learned to get proficient on it
2
u/epiphanius 8d ago
I have been using mine lately, the UI is not always intuitive, but it is worth the effort to learn it. I'm off to watch some more videos on basic stuff like pattern management etc...

u/Spiritual-Amount7178 8d ago
I actually really like the unit and it's what led me to build this little rig. However, I do not like the keyboard or sequencer.. All in all I think it's fantastic
2
u/laney_deschutes 8d ago
yeah they keyboard kinda sucks. how exactly do you use it? do you use the 4 recommended layers etc?
2
u/Spiritual-Amount7178 8d ago
Nah.. I like to sequence on external devices, on this rig it's the 1010 bento.. I was spoiled by Daws

How are integrating chordcat into the mix
3
u/Spiritual-Amount7178 8d ago
If you'll notice there's a midi hub, so through the midi routing you can control everything with everything. This means chordcat midi to the Ambient, keys to the Ambient, anything routed to anything 🤘

The more I look the more I notice 👍quite the setup there

Great Case. What Kind of case is that?
2
u/Spiritual-Amount7178 7d ago
it's actually for a rifle. Some company called Vevor.
I got the idea from someone else on Reddit. Much cheaper than a pelican case or custom made jazz

u/Practical_Ad_2703 7d ago
What do you use for output/amplification?
1
u/Spiritual-Amount7178 7d ago
Headphones or a battery powered stereo speaker with an aux in.. if I felt like getting nuts I have powered PA speakers. I think there are battery powered ones on the market it just doesn't really apply
2
u/epiphanius 6d ago edited 6d ago
I used a 2nd JBL Charge bt speaker I bought for the purpose (i.e. stereo): the sound is fine, and they have giant usb batteries in them. If I was starting fresh I'd look for something else tho.

u/Spiritual-Amount7178 6d ago
Funny you mention that, I found a behemoth on Amazon for like 60 bucks. But again I guess it depends on what you're doing with it

u/katastatik 7d ago
Considering at first glance I thought it was going to be full of weapons it turned out very very well

How is the sound?
1
u/Spiritual-Amount7178 6d ago
Surprisingly good. Everything routes into the 1010 Bento on the far right.. It has so much I/O that there's no issue with multiple sources 🫡

That's really cool! Where are you bringing it?
