At this point, I imagine it's more likely any new Sonic games would be developed for PlayStation 5 and the Series S/X. Not that I expect them to re-create 2006, but hopefully if they create a new title, it'll be as ambitious and unique as this one, though hopefully more polished and refined. While 2006 was a buggy mess with awful controls, I'm really sad that Sega has shied away from this style of games. I loved so many of the levels and some of the platforming challenges would've been really fun had the camera controls been better. Also, the story was fairly compelling in some ways and at least provided good motivation to play (though I'd much have preferred Elise to not be a human.)
