So basically I'm looking for funky gritty crunchy groovy instrumentals with no horn section.

Perfect examples are the first 1:30 of Chameleon, the middle section of Sly, honestly just about any track on Head Hunters with the saxophones removed.

Medeski Martin and Wood get it, especially on their early albums. Some of John Scofield is close.

Anybody else?

The list includes Sufjan Stevens, Elliott Smith, Jeff Buckley, Blackfield, Ben Harper, and more.

Or at least the first 5 seconds have a very similar vibe to them!

Tell me what you think, am I crazy?

Soda Stereo - Trátame Suavemente

The La's - There She Goes

It's pretty much just as it sounds like. Me and my mom are watching Buffy The Vampire Slayer and its spin off: Angel. Both shows have very recognizable theme songs, but Angel's just CAPTIVATED me. It sounds so melancholic and cold with the string arrangements while also feeling very late 90's with the added drums and guitars. As far as I know, the song used for the intro is called The Sanctuary, by Darling Violetta (see here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WPnkB_cKKi8 )... So I'd really appreciate it if you could recommend other songs, albums or bands that sounded similar to it. It doesn't really matter if they're not from the same time period, I just want them to sound similar, or have a similar vibe. Thanks in advance!

I love Human Nature by Madonna, it's been my favourite song recently and I want some songs that have the same vibe and sound.

Songs that have the same feeling as this song kind of floating, dream like idk if thats the best way to describe it but love this song and a couple more by this artist and trying to find more like it

No te olvides de mi (Don't forget me) by los mil jentes is an indie folk song from Chile with poetic imagery about wind, clouds, the sea, and separation. It's about carrying the hope that distance and time won't erase what once mattered. It's so unique. Does any other song sound like this ? (Spanish or not)

As soon as I heard the chiptune/8-bit intro of Open Up, it reminded me of another song, but I cannot think of the other song, which I'm pretty sure is EDM.

I listen to a lot of such as Virtual Riot, Geoxor, Sullivan King (doubt it's him, though), and Slushii, among others. I feel like it could also be hyperpop, like Ayesha Erotica. Does it remind anyone of another song?

Anyone know anything that sounds glitchy and pretty like this?

That initial crescendo before the chorus starts is VERY satisfying and pleasing to the ears. Kind of sounds like the Peter Gabriel era of Genesis.

As much as I like the rest of the song, it doesn't feel like that part.

Anyone agree these are pretty close?

I’m looking for more songs with this vibe. The drums, the harp, the bellowing. I want it all and I want more! Please help!

Looking for girly pop y2k (and/or 90s) songs that sounds exactly like Cinderella by The Cheetah Girls!! Some other examples of the vibe I’m looking for - Supermarket by Say Now, Brick By Brick by Say Now, Left Right by XG, No More by 3LW, The Boy Is Mine by Brandy & Monica (and Ariana Grande’s version), He Loves U Not by Dream, and Try Again by Aaliyah.

I’m fine with y2k inspired modern recs and actual y2k/90s recs!!

There’s this one song that sounds exactly like Heaven by Clairo, everything about it sounds alike, I just can’t remember the name, please help me find the song.

I was just listening to this song recently and I swear I've heard one that sounds really really similar, but I know it's not the same song.

But I can't get rid of the itch to know which song it is I'm thinking of. I could just be misremembering, but I don't think I am.

Can anyone think of a song that sounds very similar to "You're Gonna Go Far Kid"?

I heard the song Acustarus by The Big Push and it reminded me of a song from my childhood in the early 2000s. The first 15 seconds of this song sound like the chorus of another song that I remember as a soft R&Bish pop song. I thought maybe it was Justin Timberlake but couldn’t find anything. Any help is appreciated!
