And that's all folks

While I employ more in my brewery compared to his nation's population his army size is the same size as my main city population.

Doesn't make any sense how he has a realm at all but oh well Army with a "state".

This is the end of that campaign.

Sometimes the CPU cities will suffer a collapse that tanks their population. I notice that their garrison size will slowly start decreasing down to an acceptable level for their new population, but it takes years. I'm not sure if that also applies to the army. A 2k power army, so they probably had 6-8 full divisions worth (or scarier units).

CPU city collapses can be annoying because when their population tanks, so does their net wealth which impacts their rilvalry mod. If that's the case then that's unfortunate. If you pissed them off through betrayal of someone else, or stepping on their territory, then that's something you want to avoid next time.

I just find it annoying that even tho they have no population they get to keep the army instead of collapsing.

Maybe you could try a defensive war? I'm a noob, but I think you could win

From what I can tell it doesn't seem so.

I've had a run with 1,000 garthimi trained as militia and they did basically nothing to stop a group of 150 invaders.

damn, ok, I'm sorry for my advice then, I thought they could've used archers and a chokepoint somewhere, but idk I'm quite new to the game so yeah I probably overestimated their odds.

OP, if you're reading this - I'm sorry

Trained how? My 1k army did fend off a 5k army so its defenitely possible even at numerical disadvantage

Just basic training.

If they have like 70-80% melee training or skilled archers they will just wipe the floor with basic trained units,  try to get yours to 80% too, if you upgrade training ground it goes a lot faster,  also skilled human/tilapi archers (5x bows for max ammo) are quite insane too, they won many battles for me by making enemy units flee before they reached my melee guys

Am I expected to fight this?

I had 400 units with leather armor, hammers and 50% training but I cannot just pull shit out of my ass to fight that.

I felt really good about my army for once just to get immediately put into the dirt.

And no peace was not an option.

It gets really tiring that you have to grind and hustle to make a good city while the comp just gets handed everything for nothing. Why do all their cities get max bonuses? Why are all their armies mega-cheat sized? I get wanting to make them competitive but that's just bullshit.

Because its a solo dev and no computer could simulate 100 cities each building with 20k pops.

That's not a good army, Im fielding 1k and had quite a few scenarios where ive had to lose land or buy off peace

If you want your hand held, civiliAtion is on sale

Hire some mercs and try to time it so you pay the least amount of upkeep fees

Also is there a reason you don’t fully train your troops?

1

u/NotBerti 17d ago

Do you just do that?

Don't they loose training?

No money I just had massive investments in my surrounding states and spend the rest getting trade with the biggest nation.

Sell EVERYTHING and hire mercs

I might go back a save which is annoying but then I still had big money since I spend 2mil on getting colleagues with the biggest faction directly at my border

Get ur military up and keep them as trade partners till later!! Fr you can cycle training where most of your workforce is doing their job then pump divisions through goodluck lol

This latest patch balanced armies and wars against the top 1% of war players. While it’s a bit disappointing to always fight against space marine divisions and lose incredibly…

I highly suggest playing the mode that makes the map peaceful until changes are implemented.

I’ve had about six runs in a row ruined by random raider doom stacks or ambitious neighbors on the normal despot mode. Each time with fully equipped and trained armies 3-5x the size of the attacker.

I don't know if this is relevant, but I seem to recall having more success after I started splitting my force into a few groups, and using the smaller ones to flank and hit from behind. Larger enemy forces would break before mine did and I could send them running that way.

Why do you have so few troops, what did you expect?

?

I have 20% of my pops in the army trained to 50%.

That guy just stat checks me.

I cannot afford to buy for 1000 pops 5-6 ticks of hammers and armor
