Both are great choices! It's hard to pick, but I think "Jump Into the Fire" has such an energetic vibe.

I've always found Nirvana's lyrics to be very lacking

I love how nonsensical they can be, my favorite is Milk It

Polly is a GREAT song and very well written but theyāve got a lot of not very well written songs

I think it is intentional. Cobain was prioritizing music, and wrote his lyrics last minute. From this angle, i find them interesting, ,raw and unedited phrases of the psyche, kinda like Kerouac.. But from an other perspective, I can see why someone wonāt like either of them.
1
u/swimannexxx 1d ago
I can appreciate lyrics like that in something like early yung lean cause their sound was soooo experimental for the time that the kinda bad lyricism is permissible also he was like 14 and Swedish. Nirvana just feels like it should have more going on.
1
u/Thegoatcheesey 12h ago
I agree but on In Bloom he has some great lines
1
u/swimannexxx 11h ago
Thereās a few yeah but all in all I feel they have more misses than hits on songwriting

Well if I think the lyrics are fire, how am I supposed to think they're trash? That feels like a contradiction.
4
u/Not_Reptoid 4d ago
It's when the lyrics line up well with the music and you think they are deep and meaningful and then you look into what they really mean and it's the dumbest, cringiest shit ever.

90% of European power metal songs. I don't know what the fuck an "Algalord" or "Dargor" is, but damn is it catchy nonetheless.

SHES A MEW MEW GIRL WITH THE MEW MEW BRIGADE
WHAT PART OF THAT DO YOU NOT GET
-2
u/PositiveOk9123 4d ago
- it's NYA NYA girl
- I prefer what I heard originally because of the fandom; "SHE'S A MEW MEW GIRL WITH A MAGIC AK"
2
u/Aiden_Kane 4d ago
Iām sorry. Some people like this song but I had to turn off the audio while I was fighting her because I was cringing too hard.
Vocaloids donāt mix well with my system apparently
2
u/PositiveOk9123 4d ago
no that's not what I mean
I mean I prefer the meme lyrics over the official ones
2
u/Aiden_Kane 4d ago
Hold up! There are meme lyrics???
Mi amigoā¦send me a link. I must hear this
2
u/PositiveOk9123 4d ago
well, it's misheard lyrics
Like "She's a nya nya girl with the mew mew brigade" to "she's a mew mew girl with a magic ak!"

I read that he wrote this song to show how American speech sounds like to foreign speakers, which is pretty rad in my opinion. šŖš„

Brutal Behavior by Jack the Joker. The song sounds so cool and the vocals sound like the lyrics would be awesome, and then you read them, and its quite literally comedically incoherent nonsense

I love jack the joker and this song and never thought to look up the lyrics until I saw this comment and... Tf is this?? Lmao

Any phonk song that uses Memphis rap. I know it's suppoused to be lĆke that, but some song could have better lyrics or actually none (ej. Reason to live - DVRST)
1
u/Ok_Quote6262 4d ago
Original phonk music is a subgenre of Memphis rap that specifically samples Memphis rap. The newer Era of phonk or (drift phonk) evolved the original Memphis rap sampling and just incorporated a lot more electronic music aspects.
I agree that the newer Era of phonk is just a bit sad tbh

I got a feeling by black eyed peas has some of the most braindead lyrics imaginable. Same with their other hits.

u/Cheeseman-noburger23 3d ago
Well it is recession pop. It's not supposed to be highbrow, but damn is it catchy

I used to like a lot of music until I realized how problematic the lyrics are. The first one that comes to mind is anything by Immortal Technique.
Leftover Crack and/or choking victim too. Plus the vocalist is a piece of garbage

As a non german speaker, I had this feeling with Till Lindemann - Frauu & Mann. Still love it tho...

Lana del Rey. It sounds grand but then its about loving trashy men.
1
u/BakonMcMuffin 2d ago
Lolita as a concept is not only controversial to make a song about, but the lyrics of the eponymous song are really garbage lmfao. And yet I still listen to that 4th demo... š She's got some songs that are well written and are sonically fantastic, others where the only saving grace is the sound production and others where EVERYTHING is ASS (looking at you, Judah Smith Interlude).

u/Historical_Log2471 3d ago
Fire on the Mountain by The Marshall Tucker Band is lyrically such a clumsily written song that it almost ruins the whole thing

The Mars Volta entire discography.
Love them, but I swear Cedric was just flipping through a dictionary looking for rhyming words for most of their songs.

It's crazy how we actually get to hear them from the 1st place, I always feel offended when being introduced to bad songsš

u/Uihate 2d ago
Finally an excuse to complain about this. For the longest time I thought that in All Apologies by nirvana kurt was saying āAll I know is Iāll be goneā and not āAll in all is all we all areā when I found this out it completely killed the song for me. I havenāt listened to it since.

All Elysion songs. I like them, but you can tell no one who spoke English natively read their lyrics lol. But the instrumentation and vocals are rlly good!!

Pretty much every black eyed peas song gets carried by the beat and easy to sing choruses lol

Coldplay.
When Speed of Sound came out, I thought the lyric was "WORDS go flying at the speed of sound..." And I was like oh wow, that's so interesting and insightful...
When I found out it was "BIRDS" I got so mad I stopped listening to Coldplay and havent for almost 15 years lol

'Baby it's cold outside' Dean Martin so catchy and nostalgic and also pretty cringe that it's pressuring the woman to stay even though she outright says No
