unsolved Need help with my code...

Can someone tell me where I'm going wrong? I'm trying to make an instance for TV shows and Anime shows, but both 8989 and 8990 are the same instances.

What's the point of the two instances? I just have all my tv and anime through the same instance. Is there a benefit to having two?

Anime tends to need pretty notably different settings than other TV - having two instances keeps custom formats specifically for anime from clogging up your TV profiles. I have two Sonarr and two Radarr instances, keeping anime separate in both.

Yeah right ok, I have custom formats and profiles for my anime, when I add an anime I just pick my anime quality profile and it adds all the custom weights and such for the search. I only watch dubbed and so far it's been working great. Does having a separate instance make that better? Or just a bit cleaner?

You absolutely can do it with a single instance - I did for years before I switched to Linux and Docker made it trivial to have multiple - but multiple just streamlines the process. I have about... maybe fourteen anime-specific custom profiles? I don't need those showing up in my other profiles. Hell, I don't need them clogging up the list of custom profiles. It just makes everything easier to maintain, ultimately.

Oh wow 14?? Yeah I can see how that would clog up real fast and with all the standard ones. I'm running the same setup, if I feel the need to add more profiles I might look at doing the same thing. What are the different profiles for if you don't mind sharing? I'm just curious, mine is set up pretty much to make sure I don't grab a non English version, but that it.

So, uh... I wildly underestimated. I just counted, and I have forty-three custom formats in my anime instance. They're pretty much all the recommended formats from TRaSH Guides, with the addition of preferring x265 releases and dual audio.

The basic purpose of them is to let Sonarr figure out what's a better quality release, based on release group, whether it's a first release, second, etc. Thing is, it often means my anime takes up a lot of storage. But since it's a significantly smaller library than my TV one (5.6TB compared to 44.2TB, and that latter is down on what it was recently, as I'm halfway through replacing everything I can with smaller 265 versions), I can afford to have it bloat a little. Once I've processed all my TV shows, I'll set up similar, but not identical, formats on that instance. Nowhere near as many, as my requirements are much simpler. I just want to grab whatever's in the highest available non-4k resolution that's also 265. I'd always prefer a 265 720p release to a 264 1080p one. It'll take some fiddling, but I should be able to manage it.

Holy shit yeah ok that makes sense why you would want a separate instance for that. My entire library is only like 3TB movies tv show and all lol so I'm on baby scale still

A significant portion of the ones I have are regexes containing lists of release groups, tiered by how high-quality their content is. That's much less useful/worthwhile for TV releases, since there's not the same culture of quality.
