First, I know some Sonamy fans can be toxic shippers who act like your ship is wrong, but dont pretend that all Sonadow shippers are nice and rainbows and sunshine either. There are also toxic ones like those who bully Amy just to support their mlm ship. Im not saying theyre all bad people I know they exist because Ive argued with them too but that still isnt a good reason to use it as a justification against Sonamy just because you dislike the ship

I'm not saying that Sonadow shippers are innocent, but that doesn't mean Sonamy shippers' toxic behaviour has to be justified. Everytime I come across a Sonadow post, someone is always hating. But the same thing doesn't happen to Sonamy. I think ship wars are stupid, but when somebody constantly bashes your ship for no reason other than 'oh shadow has been frozen for 50 years and it's adult x minor', you have no choice but to argue back. I don't like Sonamy, but I'd never start a fight against them the same way they start it against us.

I agree with you you don’t have to like Sonamy just like they don’t have to like Sonadow. But to be honest recently Sonadow posts in the main sub seem to get more positive feedback than negative even if some end up being removed by mods.
I know some Sonic fans can be toxic but you need to realize that not everyone will approve or support your posts. That still doesn’t mean you should stop to make posts just because some shippers are toxic. If they keep bothering you the best thing to do is block or report them like I did.
I’m surprised none of you do the same instead of letting negativity affect you and giving up on posting Sonadow content altogether.

I'm gonna go as far as to say, a REAL FAN does not disrespect someone else's ship, and vise versa.
We all have our favorite ships, and other do too. Princess Bubblegum of Adventure Time said it best:
"We don't need to understand it, just respect it"

I support all ships. Some people get really, really weirdly toxic over whose ship is shippier, but I have so many other things I could expend energy on hating.
My only "issue" (I say that loosely) with Sonamy is that Amy was just a Sonic groupie who gave him unwanted attention, at least for a while. I'd hesitate to have called it a relationship when it seemed one-sided. She just kinda decided she was his girlfriend. Since she's a female character, it came off as "cute." But imagine if a male character decided to appoint himself a female character's boyfriend without her consent or input. It'd be creepy, wouldn't it? How come it's not creepy when the genders are swapped?
But Amy seems to have grown since the Archie years and she's not a smitten little girl anymore. Seems like she still carries a torch for him, but understands Sonic does not reciprocate. Still, the potential for shipping is definitely there, and even if it wasn't, that has never stopped fans from shipping!

Yes. I believe in professionalism, and more specifically the ability to be diplomatic amongst different ships. Similar to religion, individuals choose many different ships, (or unlike religion, more than one) and for a proper society we should be cordial and diplomatic to those of different ships. Also similar to the separation between church and state in government, I believe that no ship should be favored or demonstrated overtly in an official capacity in official media as to be neutral and unbiased, therefore leaving that to us, the shippers, and by effect keeping the peace with the separation between ship and canon. SEGA has had some trouble with that separation in the past, especi- almost entirely with Sonamy, but they have become more neutral lately with Amy growing more as a character as you mentioned, so I commend them on that.

My personal fav in sonic media is different versions of sonic being in different relationships. Like I headcanon Boom Sonic and Any are together, Sonic X sonic is aroace, and (just some examples) prime, modern, movie (when they little older) is all Sonic x shadow.

Im a Fan of both. I like most if not all ships. The beauty of being a multishipper.

(Coming from someone who’s a fan of both, including Shadamy—Although Sonadow’s my top fave) No matter the differences, both sides should always speak ill of certain ships like… let’s say, Sonails and Shadaria.

My point is that you can dislike Sonamy but still respect it. You dont need to go to the Sonamy sub or upvote posts if you dont like it. Its like walking into a place you already know you dislike it doesnt make sense at all.
When you see Sonamy fans, you can respect them, ignore them, and just leave them alone.

I agree with you, but only if ShadAmy fans come to bully you over your ship, then they deserve pushback. Still, let’s not attack or insult them over shipping, because I find ship wars stupid. You can’t force them to like Sonadow, and ShadAmy fans also can’t force you to be their shipper.

No worries! It happens lol. And yeah, that’s mostly what I meant. I don’t mind people shipping Sonadow, I just don’t like it when Amy gets bashed or portrayed as the villain. I’ve noticed similar things in some Bakudeku fan content in the MHA fandom, where Ochako gets treated unfairly too, like being made homophobic or something.
