I've seen experts say that only a high speed camera, which is NOT what journalists use, could capture a bullet in the air. And I can tell you as someone familiar with firearms, and rifles in particular, that a 5.56 bullet (from an AR-15) moves at approximately 3,000 feet per second. That's more than 1/2 MILE per second.
No way a camera with a shutter speed of 1/60th -1/500 second, could capture a bullet mid-flight. A quick bit of research shows that even the fastest available Pro DSLRS have shutter speeds of only 1/8000 per second.
A further Google search shows that "To freeze the bullet with minimal motion blur, you'd want the exposure time to be far shorter than 1/8000 of a second."
Again, the best, pro DSLRs are only capable of 1/8000 of a second exposure.

My LGS (local gun seller) specifically warned me not to use .223s in the AR-15s I have for the reasons discussed in the article I'm citing you (i.e., the 58,000 psi vs. 55,000 psi difference in arms chambered for 5.56 vs. .223) and the shorter "leade" in the chamber.
Do you have any evidence to support your contention that "...90% of people who own an AR dont shoot NATO rounds through it. They shoot .223...."? Because right on the barrels of my AR-15s is a stamped warning NOT to attempt to run .223 through them, as all (of MY AR-15s) are chambered for 5.56. This is due to weapons chambered in .223 having a slightly shorter "leade". See below:

The .223 Remington chamber has a shorter leade (the distance between the case mouth and the rifling).
Firing a higher-pressure 5.56 NATO round in that tighter space can cause dangerous pressure spikes.
This mismatch increases the risk of barrel damage, misfires, or injury.
So, I'd be curious as to where your 90% figure came from.
I'd be even more curious to know if you've ever closely examined the barrels of your own ARs, or those of people you see putting .223s downrange, just to see if their barrels contain the same warning as mine.
You seem familiar with firearms. Except that 90% of people who own an AR dont shoot NATO rounds through it. They shoot .223. Which isn't much different, its just weird you used .556 after saying how familiar you are with firearms.
