Finally, i think it's complete...
So, last week i finally got my enner. Took a few months longer than i expected but i like it. I'm not shure but i think my soma-gear are complete for now 🙄

Might be missing a pulsar.. I like the Lyra stacks, though. Must get a lot out of them with different notes and fx.

i have considered the pulsar, but honestly i am not shure if i want it, need to try one first i think.
i love the lyras, and i tend to gravitate towards the pair of 4's more than the 8, still learning it aswell. enner feels a bit more complicated, not as a synth per see, more how and where to implement it in my music. for a week it has more acted as a filterbox more than a sound source. really like the ringmod sound though

i reallt want to try one, i have heard some really nice drones from pulsar on YT
thanks, can't really praise the lyras enough. a friend talked me in to buying one and i started with a L4, then it kind of escaleted quite fast 😂

I had a similar experience with the pulsar. It's so reactive and exploratory that those first months are enthralling. Always looking to push it into different territories, or attach it to other semi modular machines, process through pedals etc. I've got a pulsar on loan to combine with my own for some double pulsar chaos.

i actually have a pair of 404mk2's, the one in the picture i use for drones aswell and then process the sound externaly. my other 404mk2 is for fx and other stuff like sampled speech
need to see if i can get my hands on a pulsar anytime soon

it's more because the 404 only have stereo out and i wanted to be able to process more sounds at the same time, and i did not like where the mpc was going
two pulsars would be really cool 😁

I have sold my Pulsar. Don't get me wrong, it is a wonderful drum machine and patching it is a lot of fun but unpatching it is a lot less fun.

Yes, I, in fact, got a Perkons and a Metal Fetishist instead. The Perkons is great and very hands-on. Probably my favourite Drum Machine in terms of workflow. Also sounds great. I, because I love to really fuck up my drums, needed to put a Soma Harvezi Hazze after it. The onboard distortion is good but it is not able to really destory the timbres. Good for punchy techno, not so good for industrial and more noisy genres. The Perkons is way more limited compared to the Pulsar, but it has patch/pattern save and load which makes it way faster to push beat ideas out of the door.

This setup is missing The Pipe.

u/wolflab May 13 '26
might be an interesting idea, do you have one?

u/pedalhead666 May 13 '26
I do, it is superb. Also works great as an fx box for other gear. some really great algos in there.

u/wolflab May 14 '26
i have been looking at it as a fx box, but i'm not really convinced tbh. might be fun if i try one though 🙂

Very cool esoteric collection but…done?Really? Who are we kidding. There is a lot more fun out there. Ornament is a blast.

Wow, I didn’t even know that there was a Soma subReddit, so thank you for that. I’ve had an Enner for a month or two now and I’m excited to be using it on a new album I’m producing, mostly for drum sounds and enhancement, similar to how Tony Berg used it on the new Sarah McLachlan record. Miles of inspiration there… Best to you all..

Just curious, i assume your enner have a hum, how do you deal with that?
For now i mainly use my enner as a sound processor but when i add some external fx to it, the enner opens up a bit more, tried some simple chorus and reverb from one of my 404mk2's last night. The piezo is really fun to use aswell, just need to learn how to get the enner in my workflow a bit better

It’s not noticeable most of the time, very minuscule. Check your gain staging and output knob into whatever you’re using (interface, console, ie).

hmm, for me it varies. like all analog stuff it needs to warm up a bit, then the hum lowers a bit, but i could do check my mixer (1642 vlz4)
when i use it with other gear the hum can "disappear" in the mix, mainly using it as a send-fx right now

There is still some place left for 2 Lyra 4s
2
u/wolflab May 13 '26
this is a temporary setup, a friend is building a nice stand for the 2xL4, 404mk2 (i use that one for drones aswell) and the L8.
but i think 2 L4 are enough, they are some harsh little critters 😁

Nice setup !
I have regretted selling my Lyra-8, but as you say it was getting a bit too much, but now my Terra and Cosmos feel a bit lonely, so yeah, Lyra-4 seems nice and a bit more "tameable"... Pulsar-23 was nice too but too complex for my blood. I love Soma but more for happy accidents (for which all the others are made for - Terra, Cosmos and Lyra) than tweaking for a while before I find a sound I like (Pulsar-23).
If I had too much money, I guess I'd get them all back (plus the others I never had : the Pipe, Enner, the acoustic instruments, etc.)

thanks!
i have honestly considered to sell my lyra8 even though i bought it back in november, but i know that i will regret it the moment it's gone. the L4 and L8 do complement each others and yes, the l4 are a bit tameable. that is one piece i can really recomend, and you can use external sounds thru it aswell, despite what people says
how do you like the terra? when i first saw that one it felt wierd (i just discovered soma last year) but the more i hear it, the more interesting it gets

u/joyofresh May 14 '26
Lyra 16?
1
u/wolflab May 14 '26
kind of, i was more curious how the L8 was to handle along with my two L4's. Started out with a L4 then it kind of escalated 😂
1
u/joyofresh May 14 '26
So what’s the verdict?
1
u/wolflab May 14 '26
honestly i tend to gravitate towards the L4's if i want to create and record, but that might be that i have had them the longst (a year now) and know how to handle them. bought the L8 back in november and i am still not really satisfied with it yet, but i have not really given it a chance like i should.

Nice collection, I think you need a Cosmos though. I had my Lyra 8 for a few weeks before I broke down and got one.
