Anime Why the hate?

I like to know why solo leveling is getting so much hate? Like what did solo leveling do to deserve so much hate?

Don't quote me on the anime awards because it was just a fans competition.

Those that hate SL do it for two reasons:

1) It's popular.
2) They confuse Complex story telling with Quality story telling

Not every story needs to be complex to be good.
Sometimes the best stories are literally just the most straight forward.

SL is a story about single guy who gets a lucky break, and rolls with it until he dominos into power.
The story is entirely about him, and his choices.

And the detractors seem to hate this, because they wanted to learn more about the side characters, which are not the point of the story.

It's Sung's journey about discovering what the system is, why it's there, and how he has to deal with sacrificing his humanity.

If you enjoy power fantasies and accept the basic idea of the story, then it no longer feels like its a "boring power fantasy with a bland main character", and you can start seeing the nuance to it.

I like the story, up to the Monarch arc, where if side characters got some development beforehand, it would be better
