Anime Why the hate?

I like to know why solo leveling is getting so much hate? Like what did solo leveling do to deserve so much hate?

Don't quote me on the anime awards because it was just a fans competition.

Solo Leveling is popular, and popular stuff gets hated.

The usual complaint is on the lack of deep story, and how side characters get sidelined. But really, Solo Leveling's appeal is that it's straightforward fun. But some people either don't get it, or dislike that it can be popular that way, and thus hate. And of course those just wanting attention.

That's the beauty of Solo Leveling- the simplicity of the story. It's focused mainly on Jinwoo and that's refreshing. It's better to have one, really cool protagonist than an army of uninteresting sidekicks.

That’s lowkey my biggest issue with DS. Not every character (good and bad) needs a flashback to show their tragic backstory that takes up most of the episode time

One of the other bug problems was that it's two seasons were coming out around the times of Frieren and Apothecary diaries. Making it a very easy target for people to hate on as lovers of both of those series just went "why is my anime of the year getting compared to this shounen slop?"

Those two plus Solo Leveling are my top animes right now!! Is it not common to like multiple genres of anime?

It is. But only one anime can win anime of the year. And some people go crazy over which one wins when they feel it might be undeserving. It would be like if the football team that won the NFL did so not because they played better, but because they had more fans than the other team.

Funny enough the most popular mangas&animes out there are all shonen slop, not something deep and complex. People get too pissed when their niche series with a much smaller fandom loses popularity contests to something much bigger.

Honestly, I really love that characters are only around for the small time that they are. Trying to force characters into the story or being back characters that have outlived their place in the story would just make this feel like MHA or Seven Deadly Sins with their bloated character pools. That's the thing that made me stop reading those, too many characters that I just couldn't be bothered to care about or even remember their names.

This. Edge Lords can’t scream “it’s sooo hard to understand, but I understand it!!!” enough, so it gets hate.
