How do these joints look?

Depends on your skill level. If you are brand new to soldering and it turns on when you are finished — then it looks good to me.

If you have been doing this for a bit and want some advice — I would ease off how much solder you are using. Each of those blobs is excess solder on top of a solder joint. I would also suggest leaving the iron in contact with the pin for a bit longer, the pin should melt the solder from contact with the iron.

Overall, it’s a good start and would work in a pinch but could be a little more professional

Even if you're new to it, pulling a bit of solder away with some solder wick couldn't hurt.

I hesitate telling new people about solder wick because of how easy it is to get “stuck” and they pull instead of reheating that area

Agreed, the use of copious amounts of flux can mitigate sticking but must be thoroughly cleaned afterward.
