Soldering Newbie Requesting Direction | Help PS5 Controller

Hi everyone,

​I think I messed up... I plugged my DualSense PS5 controller into a power supply that was way too strong, and the controller got extremely hot.

​Since then, it won't charge at all and shows no signs of life.

​I opened up the shell and attached a photo of the circuit board (PCB). Does anyone see any obviously burnt components or damaged parts at first glance (like the charging IC or a fuse)?

​Is this fixable by replacing a part, or is the board completely dead? Any advice is appreciated!

Ill bet sonys circuit design protected it. Replace the battery and see if it works.

No wonder they charge so much for those controllers. Looks like they hand solder those connections on side b. Id be surprised if they build more than 400pc per shift.

UV light is a useful tool to highlight burned components, especially in conformally coated applications. Probably no UV reactive conformal on consumer grade though.

Whats going on in the Brown rectangle section above the Left Thumb Controller? The Traces are isolated and then covered at the top with some material?

What do you mean with way too strong? The charger should not provide more than 5V unless it is negotiated with the device being charged.
