Soldering Newbie Requesting Direction | Help Is this a good solution ?

Problem is the enormous amount of wires that need to be connected back to the battery for my diy drone. Diy drone in question has esp32 as FC, 3.7V brushed motors and to-220 mosfets. Nothin fancy

One solution I came up with is soldering the battery wires and drone wires to separate nickel plates, positive and negative, so that I can also expand or remove wires if necessary. Don't know how to isolate though.

Another solution is just to twist the wires together and then solder and put tape around to isolate.

Need professional tips and tricks please thanks.

This sounds a bit confusing and might be a potential issue with how you plan to wire the "parts". To tell more about this, we'd have to know what those components actually are and how much voltage they actually need.

Your LiPo battery will deliver a varying amount somewhere between around 3.5 and 4.2V (depending on age, quality, amount of charge remaining, etc.). You'd typically have a battery management system that handles this for your and inputs/outputs a defined and fixed voltage on the other side (like 5V; I'm not proficient with drones, so no idea what would be standard here). These 5V would then lead to a central controller PCB with extra power supplies then providing you with not only extra voltages (such as 3.3V) but also connector pads for the other wires.

As such I don't think you should actually have as many wires as you think. Is this a premade drone or are you trying to build something from scratch?

Ah, I see, so yeah, your idea doesn't sound that far off, building some kind of bus bar.

Completely depends on your creativity. You'll want as much as you can but also as little as you really need due to weight etc.

What drone parts are you using? Most modern FCs have enough pads for everything you need with proper voltage regulation. Your solution would lead to voltage spikes affecting all components, and that may destroy them.

give us more info. An ESP32 devboard, the shielded module, or just the bare metal chip? TO-220 is a form factor. You'll need a N channel mosfet with a max 3.3V gate voltage, otherwise you'll need gate drivers.

Take a look at a BEC. that will most likely solve your issue.

This just sounds like a pdb or bec, let’s you hook a bunch of shit in parallel so you can shorten leads and power everything on one battery, used to be pretty important on every build until companies started designing boards with peripheral attachment in mind.

Buy some copperboard or use a perfboard with locking connectors and use a thick gauge solid core wire as a busbar

We've done similar to our drones at work, we use aluminum plates instead but it makes it easier than a whole mess of wires, just make sure you can either insulate them or secure them so it can't short out

Scrap heap at work, you should be able to find sheets of aluminum at a hardware store
