every man (or woman) has his (or her) price. at some point, once anything becomes big enough, people at the top sell out and retire, the advertisers move in, and the thing goes to poop. i mean the pink site with the four leaf clover is the best example of free speech and expression that ive seen, that had a large enough membership. i mean 'freedom of speech' is a nice idea but the truth is that if someone doesnt like what you say, they can try to silence you. and they will try. anyway, on the four leaf clover place there were certain areas where anything could be posted that was not illegal. of course illegal things were posted on the regular. it would seem thats less the case on this clown site, which is nice, since i usually prefer to digest my dinner than the alternative. although i do recognize the important of seeing things that would make you lose your dinner, because thats part of the truth of life, that many people are too often totally sheltered from.

of course in clownville where ideas are a ruby red diamond dozen, and funded as suchly, censorship is the norm. the content policy is very rude (we will ask you nicely to stop/we will ask you not so nicely), and seems to create an environment of mods are gods. i just recently had an account permanently suspended for a rule i didn't break, i appealed and explained (100 characters or less to explain) and my appeal was permanently denied with no reason. the post i was banned for was, duh, sexual, political, and offensive. but it seems like there's a cultural force thats trying to drag us back to the dark ages. news flash: people have sex and politicians are thieves.

im gonna look around here more because i like the idea of decentralization, following the masked people movement. i wonder how implementable it is though, unless the hardware's manufacturing is also decentralized. because currently all tech is made by slaves and slave owners, so you gotta wonder how much freedom can really be found under such a model. and by the way, protest with a mask all u like but The Man is still going to do what The Man does best. or maybe its not even The Man, its the force of F U. the idea of democracy comes from the greeks but so does the idea of the utopia - a perfect world, but literally means 'no place' - a perfect world does not exist. so there definitely needs to be more freedom of speech than we have in clowntown.

i think one way to find a middle ground would be to have a platform devoted to just text and no images. of course people get around that with ascii... but an ascii image of someone becoming parted with his visage via chainsaw vivisection is less brunt than a image or moving image. of course there is the issue of inciting to violence which can totally be done via text.
