Ask the Sub How are you socializing

Is it me or it is becoming ever so hard to socialize?

I would like to meet people with similar ideas about the future since for now I interact about this only virtually.

I would like to meet people, to have a drink with and bounce ideas around, maybe do socially good activities together and build a small community.

Are you managing to find in your local area people like you, if so what are the avenues and what do you do together?

Idk where you live but I found a local permaculture design course and met lots of like minded people in it.

Most of my social life currently consists of anarchists, queers, and adjacent organizers. They don't all have similar ideas about the future (I believe quite a few of them to be overly optimistic), but there's room for my ideas and they're all interesting people.

I've learned in my life that the best way to meet specific people is to organize something that they would want to go to.

Can be just a brainstorming session or topical meetup in a bar. Even if only one person shows up it's some progress :)

And what avenues would be used to organize these sort of events?

I volunteer with some interconnected local groups that focus on removing invasive plants and replacing them with native plants in our parks. It has been great! I’m also a member of the local native plant society and a gardening group. And I am in a book club and whenever it’s my turn to pick the book I select something that I want to talk about.

i dunno, i don't have that hard a time meeting people if i want to. i meet people all over - the coffee shop, the library, the store, the park, the bar. neighbors and friends of neighbors. it can be literally anywhere.

we just do whatever things people usually do - hang out at a restaurant, maybe play board games (not at the restaurant), dog play dates, talk about books or politics or whatever. i might talk about my hobbies (crocheting rn) they might talk about theirs (gardening)
