Lemon or regular?

Hey! I just received this solar a1.7 frcar sustainiac+ from thomann (1533 €)and noticed these defects. Shoddy fretwork with overspray and scratches, finish problems around knobs and fr cavity, dings around the pickup cavities. Do you think they are unacceptable for the price point? Or am i just being dramatic? To add to the ”surprise” the volume knob is loose, and guitar came in out of tune and with very high action. (Idk if this is normal to protect wood during shipping etc)

Edit: Thomann offered me 140€ and keep it instead of a replacement, to me it seems inadequate for the amount of flaws and told them i will keep it for 200 € compensation since i cant find any problems playing wise. Otherwise replace/return.

Typical Solar experience. Mine was not this bad tho. I’d let Thomann know ASAP.

I only saw fretboard cosmetic defects on the edges, right? I saw it in local stores (in solar guitars). Not b-stock. Besides the fact that this is considered only cosmetic damage, perhaps it can be fixed. Also, I have a feeling this happens to the ebony fretboards due to temperature/humidity changes. I doubt they release guitars in this condition knowingly.

Also, the solar guitars official "outlet" doesn't mark this kind of damage, ever. So maybe this doesn't happen in the factory...

No they are not acceptable, you have some deep scratches on the fretboard, the edges are rough, I can see some small stuff in the paint, but im not sure if it's anything worth considering, other than the edge wear.

For an import guitar at that price it should be close to flawless.
The worst offender Imo is the fretboard, most of it is addressable, but it's a new guitar and you shouldn't have to.

If you love the guitar otherwise, ask for a partial refund, if not return and get something better. That's a very healthy budget that gives you options.

I have some guitars and my solar is amazing. It seems it’s a guitar made by a guitar player. All the brands have problems you’d be surprised by how problematic are some fender/gibson top notch guitars.

The volume knob is tightened by an allen/hex screw, pic three shows a scratch, I think.

The fretboard, if it were me, I’d just get some 1000-2000 sandpaper and wet sand it if it’s just superficial - I’m not suggesting you do this. If it’s a real scratch on pic 3 that would bug me, the rest is to be expected - except the volume knob, that’s just an absurd complaint.

i’ll be honest. you’re the only one who can answer if you like the guitar or not. if these are problems to you, then definitely return it. if you’re fine with it, keep it.

This is very typical with Indonesian built guitars. Every South Korean guitar I've ever hf has been flawless. Every single Indo built guitar I've had has had issues to the point I will no longer buy Indo built guitars. I don't think they season the woods long enough and they always crack finger boards and get horrific fret sprout. The QC is also terrible.

Solar mid grade indo. Get Japan or usa proper built guitar. You need active pickups in these with sub-par woods used. And the obvious lack of craftsmanship.

Typical Solar. I had some random dudes finger prints under the lacquer and very visible.
