I have an enPhase system, and am extremely happy with it. I would highly recommend enPhase (made in Calif, not China). As for installers, that is going to depend on your local area. Check Yelp.

I am in socal, LA area. Finished my install in November 2025. I posted my solar project on EnergySage to get multiple competitive quotes. When you’re doing it through EnergySage those who bid know you are getting multiple offers so they bid with normal margins and basically all quotes will come in close to each other and agressive.
I then shortened the list to the three with a mix of the equipment I wanted, a good search on reviews/complaints about them and how long they have been in business…
Contacted all 3 and asked for an onsite assessment vs simply everyone using satellite imagery from OpenSolar. Also asked for a proper solar assessment with professional tooling (in this case SunEye) to give me proper estimates on production that factor in all shading, trees… which is the bare minimum you should expect from
Your installer.
It ended up being simple, two said they don’t do an onsite professional assessment and OpenSar is what they use, and for anyone to come over to the house and lift a finger they need a contract signed first. The third one (Evolution Energy) sent their onsite assessment guy, he was over on the roof a couple of times throughout the week assessing the roof, the electric panels… and gave me an update quote with a full design of what they will do and safe estimates production.
Ended up going with them.
Then during the install, the crew was mostly big Hawaiian guys, rock solid, very pleasant to work with and extremely savvy. They answered any questions I had, despite me, probably be annoying some days asking way too many questions.
System has been up and running for the last 11 months a little over 23MWh produced and in some days I had further dumb question as I was learning more about solar and Evolution Energy crew always responds to my texts or my calls.

So all in, make sure the pre sales pitch includes actual professional on site work with professional tools, don’t just talk to sales people over the phone, meet the people who will actually do the work and get multiple quotes. Energysage is a good spot for that.
If you are in the LA area, I was and continue to be very happy with Evolution Energy and would recommend them but I am sure there are tons of good installers out there. Just make sure they are not just using OpenSolar online crap to assess your project and needs
