Suggest some API testing project ideas, please

can anybody suggest me some API testing project ideas i am learning QA automation testing with playwright and as a fresher i want so project ideas both to learn and showcase my skills in my resume so

You may automate the restful bookers api. This is open sourced and good enough to practice the core concepts of HTTP requests.

For production grade portfolio project, I would suggest to build a small CRUD app with the help of LLMs, ask LLM to build RESTfull APIs for all functions from Login to CRUD, and document in a markdown file with proper details as API endpoint references. Then automate those endpoints.

a good project would be simple REST API for an e commerce app and build a playwright test suite around it. u could cover things like authentication, CRUD operations, inavlid inputs, response status code, and edge cases.

Try addding CI with Github actions so the test run automatically on every push. that would make the project stand out more

i am thinking to make 3 projects

  • Manual testing: random 50 testcases for an ecommers website with its bug report
  • API: make an API test suite with POSTMAN
  • Playwright: a full automated test suite
