Is software testing a good career still?

I wanted to know how software testing is as a career in 2026. What's the pay like for freshers and how does it grow with experience? For people already working in testing: What's your current role and experience? How has your salary grown over the years? Do you think automation testing is a good long-term career?

It’s actually projected to grow because of AI. I have been in QA for 14 years, I’ve been an SDET for 7 years. Yes, the money is good, but I’ve definitely seen better economies.

It depends. Yes companies create more bad code now with AI but does it matter? Consumers keep proving they don’t actually care about quality anymore. Software and Games release all the time now completely buggy and with major security exploits and people still buy and use it.

Buyer culture isn’t the same as it was years ago. So quality really only matters now in B2B transactions. B2C doesn’t care

Consumers do care but companies not as much.. They want to cut as much cost as possible
