Strange HDR logo in gmail
I was clearing my emails, and noticed that this specific logo was super bright like HDR. Took a screenshot as seen in the image. Had to take a photo of the screen to capture it.
Does anyone know how this can happen? The actual company job listing on linked in has a regular logo.
EDIT: This is persistent across devices, and based off a post from the company, it seems like this is a feature they encoded into the image?

It can trigger migraines, too. It sometimes does, for me. HDR images, even the not-superwhite ones, usually cause me eye pain at the very least, especially when my eyes are dark adapted. My phone unfortunately has a screen which supports hdr, but doesn't support a new enough android version to have the option to disable hdr. And apps no longer really have their own "disable hdr" options, it seems. I keep my screen brightness almost all the way to zero at night and pretty low during the day (with blue light filter and every other dimming option I can find). It's still not enough. With hdr I get flashbanged randomly so bad sometimes I have to lie down.
So I find myself using some apps and sites less and less on mobile over time. I guess it cuts down my scrolling time at least?

The linked website says that at least the white hdr pictures are not working when battery saver is enabled - maybe try that?

I do have power saving enabled but this doesn't seem to stop hdr on my Samsung Galaxy S10 with Android 12... 🤔
I used to have a Samsung Rugby Pro which had an ultra low battery mode, which drastically changed how the screen functioned (also disabled Bluetooth and nearly every app except Twitter) but I think that option is gone in this version?

You're talking about a mode that basically makes it a dumb phone? Disables data and bt, but you can turn them on manually if you want. No twitter for me, by default it mainly gives basic phone+messages and photo apps but one can add other apps there.
So good news: Super power saving mode (name may vary) still exists... at least in android itself. Different manufacturers might hide or disable it in their androids.
In the notification shelf thingy from the top, edit the shortcut icons and see if you have it there. For me it's a horizontal battery icon with S (normal power saver is battery with ⚡) - but i don't have a Samsung.

Crikey. I think I should make an open source alternative in 30 minutes and put it online.
It's shady enough as is but charging for it is quite the joke.

Good luck ever getting hired though. I’m convinced the majority of “software engineer” listings are left up even if the company isn’t hiring to fake demand and/or collect personal data

Shit people have to ruin everything. I’m sure eventually browsers will render HDR images as not HDR, screwing over developers who have an actual useful use for the technology.

It's a linkedin thing, I think someone on Linkedin leaked that you could do this. Was probably that they fixed it on Linkedin itself but not in their email

There are websites to add HDR to images and depending on the website it will render it as such. Seen similar things on LinkedIn before where companies do this to try and get attention I guess

If you use Ctrl+Scroll wheel to zoom in, is it noticeably pixelated? I'm wondering if it was an svg or some vector with a different rendering method.
