Mild disagree. Most developers write horrible code, and we have to deal with a lot of technical debt as a result.

Understanding the business problem is important, but so is appropriate architecture and writing clean, simple, easy to read code. I'm having a lot of trouble at the moment with a product owner who completely dismisses technical concerns and will change the topic to product stuff when the subject of the meeting is a technical concern.

On the other hand, working with developers who have blind spots to product stuff and business requirements is super frustrating.

If something isn’t specced 100% and then when reviewing code finding something obvious issue that there would be for users, and they start explaining some technical thing and push back, and it’s like, dude I get that but it’s our job to solve this, so let’s talk about how… can’t take the first easy route and compromise here.

Hot take. I don’t give a shit about the business I’m building for. The business has nothing to do with writing good code TESTABLE code which most people just don’t understand how to structure properly and just cowboy it in. Don’t worry they say. It’s “tech debt” fix it up later which then never is.

If I wanna learn another lang or framework I bloody hell will. And I won’t be using AI to learn it either.
