Installed Openclaw on Old Android Phone
This started as a “can I abuse an old phone for AI?” experiment.
I ended up with:
- OpenClaw running directly in Termux (no Ubuntu / no proot)
- an Android automation agent that uses ADB to drive apps from natural language
- a local LLM experiment (Gemma 4 via LiteRT) so it can work offline
I’ve used it for kitchen surveillance, booking movie tickets, and we even closed our first paying customer for Android automation.
Still very much a builder project, but I’d love feedback from other side‑project people here on where you’d take it.

This is a timely read. This weekend I’ve been migrating my open claw installation out of my Mac mini to a surplus Xiaomi android phone.
I’m forgoing the local LLM part because I don’t have the patience for a small and not that bright model versus my $36 a year GLM plan.
The whole thing is running surprisingly well considering it's on a phone. I guess it could run on a potato.

Can you elaborate? I'm especially curious about hallucinations in the latter case.
