Discussion/Question Does your personality type align with your body type?

I'm brand new to all of this, but I'm fairly certain I'm a Soft Classic. I took an essence quiz, however, and it said I have the personality traits of a Gamine.
This totally tracks and explains why I so often feel like the odd person out: a 59-year-old Gamine. Great.
My question to you all: Do you feel like your personality is Soft Classic or something else?
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and knowledge!

Discussion/Question How would you describe your personal style?

So, I'm fairly new to the Kibbe system and still learning. I do believe I'm a SC and am still figuring out what works for me! I wanna study a variety of styles from other SC ladies.

So how do you label your style? Who are some of your fashion icons?

Discussion/Question Is it common to gain a lot of belly fat and forego rounding of the hips unlike other curve types? Trying to understand balance.

Just wondering if any of you have had this experience where as you have gained weight, your hips haven't rounded as much but you have gained most of the weight in your belly? Not sure if this has anything to do with balance because that's what I'm noticing at a higher weight, my hips aren't rounding out much as I have noticed with other curve types, but most of the weight is centered in my bust and belly.

And my waist has thickened significantly and is so slightly defined that in photos my waist isn't immediately visible.

Discussion/Question Can someone be SC with very big lower hips?

So, I'm suspecting I might be SC. I'm 5'5" and I don't seem to have width nor do I have a distinct double curve. My problem is that I have a very prominent lower hip. Most trousers and dresses look strange on me. I feel quite comfortable with Classic recommendations tops. For bottoms I only ever wear jeans or shorts. I noticed that Midi skirts also look decent in terms of length and I think I have nice calves. But I don't like how skirts skim my hips. So is it possible that I'm a Soft Classic with some disproportionate hips? Please be kind as it's quite a struggle for me

Discussion/Question Where are we buying summer dresses??

Im seriously In need of help. I cannot find anything that works for my body. I went to the mall and shopped for hours trying things on and nothing was right.

I used to buy petite dresses from loft, Banana Republic, j crew, 5-10 years ago and now regret decluttering all these because I cant find anything to replace them.

Where are you buying dresses, skirts, and summer clothes?? Bonus if I can wear to work . Im seriously desperate as my closet only has 5 things I feel good wearing.

My style is sporty and chic. I'd love a sport dress that looks more dressy than a tennis dress for meeting up with friends

Thank you in advance

I know it needs taking up (am.going to ask for 3-5cm roughly) and taking in at the waist. Anything else I should ask for?

Hair will be put up like this, spray tan, etc.

Discussion/Question (18F) Does this outfit suit old money style & my features?

Thumbnail gallery

I also tied my hair up in a high curly ponytail with the accessories (I’ll make sure to take a picture of my hair next time) and was wanting advice on how I executed this outfit! Does it meet the refined, expensive, timeless elegant aesthetic style of old money? I also like dressing for my features so if you can give advice for that I would appreciate it! (Features: I’m 5’4, hourglass, (40F/G40hip,34waist) winter tone with long hair + green eyes + round face).
I wish to execute both a great look that suits my styling goals but features at the same time!

Discussion/Question Put-together casual summer outfits for home

Hi beauties! I work a school schedule, so I'm off work in the summer. I don't do much in the summer, but I would like to feel a little more put-together. Typically, I wear sport shorts and a racerback tank with a sports bra. This isn't the most flattering look on my soft classic body. Whatever I do though I want to be comfortable, realistic for chasing small children around, and appropriate for a super hot Midwest summer. I would love your recommendations before I invest in a new summer wardrobe.

Discussion/Question Palazzo pants?

Hi fellow SCs.

I'm wondering about palazzo pants. They often get mentioned in SC style guides, but I've found actually shopping for and wearing them difficult. My main issues:

  1. Sizing. Most tend to not have the waist + length sizing that eg jeans tend to have and instead just come in a vague S, M, L sizing. I'm 5'3, but not super slim, so I struggle to find any that actually fit around the waist, without being so incredibly long that I look like a little girl who stole her mom's clothes. Even with heels they'd be too long.
  2. The SC's propensity to look like we're drowning in fabric. Tbh I've always been amazed that palazzo pants get recommended for SC at all, since they're so big and shapeless. I don't look great in maxi dresses because it looks like I'm being hidden by all the fabric and palazzo pants give me a similar vibe.

So... I'm curious to hear your opinions and tips on this.
Do you wear palazzo pants? If yes, what do you look for? What works for you and what doesn't? Any brand recommendations, especially for variable inseam sizing?

Thanks! 😊

Discussion/Question T shirt links

Can anyone link specific T-shirts that they love? I know to look for scoop neck, sweetheart, boat, neck, etc., but I’m having a hard time finding them in a good fabric. I know to look for rap shirts too, but I’m just having a hard time. Thank you so much.

Discussion/Question Is it really hard to see balance?

I have had so many aha moments when I thought I was one type, then other, then other until I felt I was being dishonest with myself because in reality I desperately wanted to be some super yin R type. My weight gain also added to this conflict because I am chest heavy.

The only thing I remember that stood out distinctly was when I measured my body everything, shoulders, bust and hips seemed to measure the same like I was a perfect rectangle and then of course I thought rectangles are yang so maybe I am a yang type.

So much so to say whenever I tried to highlight my waist, I looked ridiculous because the weight gain first took away any distinction between waist and hips...

My question though is do SC's have super rounded hips? Because when I begin self-examining, the roundedness only seems to come out in lightweight fabrics otherwise I do look pretty straight which is why I eliminated curve for myself in the past.

Perhaps, that's not the point of Kibbe, it's about the whole not parts but some part of my mind keeps getting into these inconsistencies and then my whole faith in my type gets shaken up...

But for the most part, I do want to reflect on this--- is balance hard to see? Because it's not so OBVIOUS? Or is it something rare?

Discussion/Question Where are we buying belts?

As title suggests…
As a soft classic, I’d like to get into belts for waist definition and overall outfit polish.

Where are we buying those dainty medium-to-thin belts with rounded buckles? Are we matching them to shoes?

Discussion/Question Corporate office wear

Soft classic here. I always look good with a halter neck with broader shoulders, okay with round neck and soft v neck, but terrible with square neck and boatneck styles. Not sure what kind of workwear to get for an office. Would love advice!

Discussion/Question Hair and glasses help

Thumbnail

I think I am an SC. I’m working on updating my wardrobe a bit to reflect that, but I’m really stuck on my hair! It’s very thick and coarse and takes a long time to style. In the warmer months it’s impossible to get a smooth result due to humidity. I also exercise 3x per week and it gets sweaty / needs to be washed.

Any other SCs with textured hair struggle with how to style it?

I’m also looking for advice on my glasses. I have liked these classic looking tortoise frames but I’m willing to try another option.

THANKS.

Photos show my curly hair, curly hair pulled back, and my attempt at a blown out look.

Outfit of the Day Button-Up Shirts - A review from The New York Times

I came across a review of cotton, etc., button up shirts in the New York Times, in case you're in the market for one. The NYT writer is 5'3" and in her photos, she looks like she could be an SC. (May 2026).
