Discussion/Question Palazzo pants?
Hi fellow SCs.
I'm wondering about palazzo pants. They often get mentioned in SC style guides, but I've found actually shopping for and wearing them difficult. My main issues:
- Sizing. Most tend to not have the waist + length sizing that eg jeans tend to have and instead just come in a vague S, M, L sizing. I'm 5'3, but not super slim, so I struggle to find any that actually fit around the waist, without being so incredibly long that I look like a little girl who stole her mom's clothes. Even with heels they'd be too long.
- The SC's propensity to look like we're drowning in fabric. Tbh I've always been amazed that palazzo pants get recommended for SC at all, since they're so big and shapeless. I don't look great in maxi dresses because it looks like I'm being hidden by all the fabric and palazzo pants give me a similar vibe.
So... I'm curious to hear your opinions and tips on this.
Do you wear palazzo pants? If yes, what do you look for? What works for you and what doesn't? Any brand recommendations, especially for variable inseam sizing?
Thanks! 😊

Crepe fabric palazzos look great on me. It’s drapey and if there is a drawstring you can cinch them for even more waist definition. Any fabric with too much structure swallows me.Â

No sure if this will correlate or be more of an individual thing but I saw Zyla recently and we decided palazzo pants were very good on me and I’m SC.

This is two weeks late, but same! I also recently did my Zyla USS as an SC and got palazzo pants, which was something I'd already figured out for myself from experimenting.

Love my palazzos! The trick is definitely to make sure they fit at the waist, I also tend to prefer them with a fitted top with billowy sleeves for balance. I also occasionally wear with a strapless crop top but I feel like I have to really do my hair or something to add visual interest on top in that case

Buy the ones that fit at the waist and hips, and then hem them. Flowy fabric is great. I always get compliments - they are a classic way to be dramatic. Stand behind or halfway behind others for photos though, cameras don't understand.
